Katharine H. Putnam Fellowships in Plant Science, USA: plant science, plant ecology, horticulture

The Putnam Fellowship award provides stipends of up to $40,000 per year, depending on professional status, need, and duration of the fellowship. In addition, modest support is available for research and travel costs. Putnam Fellows are employees of Harvard University during their tenure and are eligible for health insurance benefits. Putnam Fellows are expected to publish the results of their research in professional or academic journals and present their work at professional meetings and workshops.Putnam Fellows are also expected to engage fully in the professional activities of the Arnold Arboretum and be in full-time residence during their tenure. While the primary work of Putnam Fellows is conducting original independent research that utilizes the living collections of the Arboretum, Putnam Fellows are also expected to work collaboratively with the staff of the Arboretum on other institutional efforts. Participation as an instructor for Arnold Arboretum education programs is encouraged, as is writing for Arnoldia, the Arboretum’s quarterly magazine. The fellowship is typically awarded for 1 year, with an option for a second year renewal upon review. Shorter appointments, of no less than 3 months, are also possible. Putnam Fellows must initiate their term at the Arboretum within 12 months of notification.

Dutkiewicz Family Scholarship for Post-Graduate Study in Energy Research, South Africa

The Dutkiewicz Family Trust has made TWO scholarships available for students who will register for full-time study for a student pursuing a post-graduate degree in Energy Research.
Eligibility:
Applicants must have achieved a weighted average of at least 60% in the final year of the previous qualification. Suitable candidates must have demonstrated a passion for the study of energy
There is no restriction on nationality, race or gender.
Value and Tenure:
The Value of the scholarship is R35,000 per year which must be used towards tuition, academic materials, housing and research project costs.
The tenure of the award is strictly ONE YEAR. It is expected that this would be renewed based on progress and fulfilment of the conditions.
One year only for an Honour’s candidate.
One year with possibility for renewal for one further year for a master’s candidate.
One year with possibility for renewal for 2 further years for a Doctoral candidate

Institute Post Doctoral Fellowship at IIT Madras, India

It is proposed to offer a number of Institute PostDoctoral
Fellowships (PDF) at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras.(IIT Madras). It is a temporary research position which may be offered for those who seek to choose research as a profession. The research work during the postdoctoral period can be in areas that are of interest, both to the postdoctoral fellows and the Institute.(Institute henceforth refers to IIT Madras) The presence of the postdoctoral fellows at the Institute will further enhance the research culture and output of the Institute and help promote interdisciplinary research. It is a transition phase which can also help a fresh doctorate transform into an independent researcher before taking up a research career.
