Postgraduate Research Scholarships, South Africa

The objective of the PRF Postgraduate Research Scholarships is to provide deserving students with the opportunity to obtain a Masters degree, that will enable them to make a contribution to high quality scientific research in the supply or utilisation of protein in animal nutrition, or both. The subject of study for the Masters degree must fall within the broad framework of the mission, vision and goals of the PRF. Doctoral scholarships will also be considered if the subject of study is deemed to be of a high priority to the PRF.The scholarship is open to citizens of the Republic of South Africa who have qualified for admission to a Masters or Ph D degree at a recognised tertiary institution.

The successful candidate must conduct an approved research project under the leadership of a recognised supervisor at the university concerned. The project may be used towards the fulfilment of the requirements for the postgraduate qualification. A formal contract must be signed by both parties.Candidates should submit PRF scholarship applications to their university administration, and the names of those who have applied for the first time should be listed in priority sequence by the University. Applications from those candidates selected by the university are then submitted to the PRF. Selected candidates may be requested to attend a personal interview, costs of which are carried by the PRF.

UCT International & Refugee Students Scholarships – 2012, South Africa

Applications are invited for the International and Refugee Students’ Scholarships from full time Honours, Masters and Doctoral Students.A limited number of scholarships are available to graduates who are not South African. These are awarded on a competitive basis and preference is given to senior candidates.
All UCT International and Refugee Students’ Scholarships are supplementary. Students who apply must have the means to fund their studies.
The scholarships are renewable for the duration of the course of study, if satisfactory progress is maintained, for one year at honours level, two at master’s level and three at doctoral level.
Applicants must apply for full-time admission through the UCT Admissions Office or the Faculty Office. Late applications are not accepted.

South Africa Rhodes Scholarships for Postgraduate Study at University of Oxford, UK

Applications are invited from outstanding young students who excel academically, demonstrate leadership, are committed to making a difference in the world, and have the energy to fulfil their ambitions. The Trust covers all costs, including University and College fees, and travel to and from Oxford. A comfortable living allowance is also provided. Candidates must be at least 19 and younger than 25 years as at 1 October 2012. The age limit has been extended by three years for MBChB
applicants who are doing their medical internships. Four scholarships are available for South African residents in general; one for KwaZulu-Natal; and one each for the alumni of Diocesan College, Paul Roos Gymnasium, St Andrew’s College, and South African College School. There is a further scholarship available for residents of Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia and Swaziland..
