Sydney Institute of Marine Science Foundation Scholarships for Postgraduate Students, Australia

The Sydney Institute of Marine Science Foundation is offering 3 three-year SIMS Scholarships to post-graduate students in any discipline of marine science as additional support to students who have received an offer of, or who already hold an APA, APAI, international or equivalent scholarship at an Australian university. The work must be undertaken substantially at the Sydney Institute of Marine Science in conjunction with a host university.
The SIMS Scholarships are for twelve thousand five hundred dollars ($12,500) each year for up to three years, beginning in 2011, paid at the beginning of each year, and may be used for research, travel or living expenses. An applicant must state clearly what the funds are requested for, and provide a supporting letter from their supervisor. Applicants should in addition provide a description (one page) of their project with their application, and a one page CV.
Students beginning their PhD program, or who have completed no more than one year of their candidature, are eligible. The Scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis, with recipients chosen by the SIMS Foundation Research Committee. Scholars will provide annual progress reports on their research to the Committee, and are expected to give one presentation per year to the public. Funding in the second and third years of the Scholarships is subject to satisfactory progress having been achieved in the previous year(s).

Postdoctoral Fellowship in Global Change, USA: Earth and Planetary Sciences

The Johns Hopkins University invites applications for the Glenadore and Howard L. Pim Postdoctoral Fellowship in Global Change. This fellowship is part of a Global Change Science initiative within the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences.
We seek an outstanding individual with a recent Ph.D. who is pursuing interdisciplinary research in Global Change. Candidates whose research spans the physical sciences, social sciences, health sciences and/or public policy aspects of global change are preferred. Areas of interest include but are not limited to (1) fundamental processes driving global change; (2) the impact of global change on air quality, water resources, ecosystems, and/or human health; (3) remediation of the effects of global change; (4) energy resources; and (5) analysis of economic, sociological, public health, and policy implications of global change. Special consideration will be given to candidates who will collaborate with faculty from other Hopkins departments. Information on our department can be found at http://www.eps.jhu.edu.
