Kurdish Studies PhD Studentship at University of Exeter, UK: political science, history, geography, sociology, language and literature, religious studies, anthropology, and gender studies.

Applications are invited by the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies for PhD studentships in the field of Kurdish Studies commencing in October 2011. The awards have been made available through a grant awarded to the Centre for Kurdish Studies by the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq. It is anticipated that up to three PhD studentships will be available for the 2011/12 academic year.

Your research project may be in any discipline of the humanities and social sciences as applied to the study of the Kurds and Kurdistan, including (but not limited to) political science, history, geography, sociology, language and literature, religious studies, anthropology, and gender studies.The studentships cover the cost of tuition fees (at the UK/EU or international level) and provide a maintenance grant of up to £12,600 a year. As part of the studentship, award holders will undertake 80 hours of work for the Centre per year during their period of registration.

2011 ECBA Scholarships in Law, Pennsylvania

The purpose of the ECBA Scholarship is to provide financial assistance to residents of Erie, Pennsylvania who are entering their second or third year at an ABA accredited law school. You may complete the on-line application or request an application from the Erie County Bar Association, 302 West Ninth Street, Erie, Pennsylvania 16502, (814) 459-3111.  Announcements of the availability of the scholarship are made annually.  Applications must be completed and returned to the Erie County Bar Association by June 30 of each year. Second year recipients of a scholarship must reapply as they enter their third year, following the same procedures.
The ECBA Scholarship Committee reviews all applications, basing their evaluation on numerous factors including financial need.  The Scholarship Committee is composed of members of the Erie County Bar Association.

Eligibility Erie County, Pennsylvania residents who have been accepted to, or who are currently enrolled in, accredited law schools are eligible to apply for the scholarship. Awards may be granted to students entering their first year of law school. Assuming the availability of funds, and provided that the student maintains a satisfactory academic record, the scholarship may be renewable during their law school career.

PhD Studentship in Dentistry/Psychology, University of Exeter, UK

The Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry with its parent Institutions, the Universities of Exeter and Plymouth, are seeking to attract PhD candidates of outstanding ability to join their exciting and rapidly expanding programme of internationally rated research. As part of our new developments and our commitment to research excellence, applications are invited from suitably qualified graduates, for a PhD studentship. International students must also have IELTS [International English Language Testing System] score of 7 and above (or equivalent qualification).

This cross disciplinary PhD studentship in Dentistry/Psychology will examine how psychological techniques can be used to reduce dental patient anxiety before, during and after treatment with the aim of improving oral health. Phase 1 will explore when and where anxiety occurs and Phase 2 will test the effectiveness of different interventions designed to help patients manage anxiety at these time points. Applicants should have either a Bachelor of Dental Surgery or a 2.1 degree in Psychology or a related discipline and preferably further training in research methods or evidence of applied research in a related context.
