CCWH/Berkshire and CCWH/Ida B. Wells Award, USA

This award is given to a female A.B.D. graduate student working on a historical dissertation, not necessarily in a history department. Applications for work on a project involving issues of race are particularly welcome.
1) be a CCWH member
(2) be a woman graduate student in a U.S. institution
(3) have passed to A.B.D. status by the time of the application. She may hold this award and others simultaneously. The applicant may specialize in any field, but must be working on an historical.The CCWH/Berkshire Conference of Women Historians Graduate Student Fellowship is a $1000 award to a female graduate student completing a dissertation in a history department.
The CCWH Ida B. Wells Graduate Student Fellowship is a $1000 award to an A.B.D. female graduate student working on a historical dissertation, not necessarily in a history department.

The Society for Renaissance Studies Postdoctoral Fellowships 2011-2012, UK

The Society for Renaissance Studies Postdoctoral Fellowships,which support research in Renaissance Studies. Two of the Fellowships to be awarded in 2011 are open to all suitable candidates working in the field.The third has been founded in memory of Ruth and Nicolai Rubinstein, with a view to supporting research in Italian history and culture.
Applicants for both Fellowships must be graduates of British or Irish universities, with PhDs awarded in the last five years, and currently engaged in full-time research, part-time teaching or independent scholarship.The Fellowships are worth £5,500 and should not be held in conjunction with another full-time postdoctoral or academic teaching post. Applicants should be aware that the Society is developing a number of international links, including one with the Istituto Nazionale di Studi sul Rinascimento, which would be willing to provide practical support for Fellows wishing to spend time in Florence.
The period of tenure will be twelve months from 1 October 2011, during which time the Fellows will be invited to attend meetings of the Society’s Council.

University of Roma La Sapienza Call for PhD Fellowships, Italy: Archaeology,Architectural sciences,Astronomical,Chemical,Earth,Mathematical and Physical sciences,Civil Engineering and Architecture

The University of Rome “La Sapienza” offers 16 three year full-time postgraduate PhD positions with fellowship for attaining the degree of “Dottore di Ricerca” (PhD) in the Doctoral Schools listed in appendix. Each fellowship amounts to € 19.800,00 per year; this amount includes national insurance contributions (INPS) that fellowship recipients are required to pay (8,91% for 2011). The fellowship doesn’t cover the annual entrance fee and doesn’t increase for research periods spent
abroad.
The PhD Programme lasts three years and may be extended to a fourth year (without grant), subject to approval by the School authorities. At the end of the first and second year of attendance, students have to be evaluated as proficient according to the rules of the Schools. Students must attend the courses and the seminars offered by their Programme, pass the related examinations, and prepare a PhD dissertation, which must have original results. The PhD title is obtained at the end of the third year after the candidate dissertation and its positive evaluation made by an independent Jury appointed by the Rector. The discussion may be delayed with the approval of the School authorities, but not for more than one year.
