University of Oxford, Fitzjames Research Fellowship in Philosophy 2011 in UK

Merton College proposes to elect to a four-year Fitzjames Research Fellowship in Philosophy to commence in October 2011.  This career development post will allow a promising academic at an early stage in his or her career to combine substantial support for research with the opportunity to develop skills in teaching and academic administration.  The teaching commitment will be up to four contact hours per week in full term and the College is particularly seeking candidates able to teach at least two and preferably more of the following papers: Elementary Logic, History of Philosophy from Descartes to Kant, Philosophy of Mathematics, Knowledge & Reality (i.e. Metaphysics & Epistemology, Philosophy of Logic and Language, and Philosophy of Mind.

The stipend will be £27,006 p.a. and the Fellow will be entitled to meals and free accommodation in College, if available (or a housing allowance) and other benefits.

The Entente Cordiale Scholarship Scheme is a prestigious bi-lateral awards scheme that funds French postgraduate students who want to study in the UK, and British students who want to study in France. Funded by the private sector in both countries the scheme provides scholarships for about 20 French and British students each year.
The total value of an Entente Cordiale scholarship normally amounts to £10 000, regardless of the course or institution chosen. Scholarships are offered for study of any discipline, in any British university, provided it is for a postgraduate course.
