The award covers tuition fees, living and travel costs for the duration of a Masters course. In 2011/12 Sheffield Hallam University is going to allocate three CSSS scholarships. Three CSSS scholarships are available for the academic year 2011/12 (September intake). The deadline for applications is 15 April 2011 Guidance on how to apply can be found on the CSSS website. Eligibility: To meet Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC) eligibility criteria, candidates must

  • be nationals of (or permanently domiciled in) a Commonwealth developing country, and not be currently living or studying in a developed country
  • hold a first degree at either first or upper second class level
  • be sufficiently fluent in English to pursue the course
  • have not previously studied for one year or more in a developed country
  • not be employed by a government department (at national level) or a fully/partially state-owned corporation/government agency (employees of universities are normally acceptable however)
  • be able to confirm in writing that neither they nor their families would otherwise be able to pay for the proposed course of study

Our risk and reliability research has a strong background and knowledge basis in the risk management of technological systems in industry. The current research aims at more comprehensive approaches by developing methods and models to handle business risks in different phases of the innovation process and enterprise networks. The understanding on risk, reliability, safety and security issues and their management also builds up capability to support companies in developing new service business related to safety and security.

The task is to develop methods and models for total comprehensive Enterprise Risk Management (ERM). The more detailed research focus can be in supporting business continuity management, in modeling of the effects of safety and security measures, or in security business development.Expectations Success in this position requires a background in risk and reliability management, or in safety and security management. University of Manchester Equity and Merit Scholarships: Business and Management, Engineering, Life Sciences, and Development

In 2010-11, the University has 76 Bangladeshi students enrolled on courses: 43 undergraduates and 33 postgraduates. Subject areas being studied include Business and Management, Engineering, Life Sciences, and Development. The University of Manchester is pleased to invite applications for a total of five scholarships for postgraduate taught Masters starting in September 2011. The scholarships are intended to support students from Bangladesh who would not otherwise be able to study in the UK. The selection process is managed on behalf of the University by British Council in Dhaka. The scholarships cover full tuition fees, return international airfares and living expenses. Awards are available in a range of subjects including science and engineering, textiles, medical and life sciences, education and the environment.
Eligibility: The scholarships are aimed at applicants from disadvantaged backgrounds. Applicants should:

  • Be a resident citizen of Bangladesh and have not previously studied or worked abroad;
  • Be aged below 35 years at the time of application;
  • Have an honours/degree and a Masters degree from a public university (including national and open universities) with a minimum overall score of 70% for science and engineering subjects, and 55% for arts and social sciences; candidates with a minimum overall score of 70% in a Bachelor degree in textiles are eligible to apply; candidates who have studied for either an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at a private university are not eligible to apply;
  • Have an overall IELTS score of 6.5 ((Please note, MA Education; MA TESOL; Environmental Impact Assessment & Management; Planning; and Urban Regeneration and Development all require IELTS 7.0);
  • Be committed to returning home and able to demonstrate the potential to make positive impact on the future of Bangladesh;
  • Have a clear idea how studying in the UK would benefit both his/her career and Bangladesh as a whole.
