Postdoctoral Fellow for the High Pressure Beamline, France: Physics, Chemistry

ID09A is currently one of the most advanced beamlines for structural investigations at high pressures. A well-equipped sample preparation laboratory, a Raman system and facilities for low and high temperature measurements and for laser annealing are available. Research is focused on the accurate determination of structural parameters at high pressures using angle-dispersive diffraction.

Qualification and Experience:
You must hold a Ph.D. in physics, chemistry or a related subject. You should be a good experimental scientist with experience in X-ray diffraction and high-pressure experiments using diamond anvil cells. Experience in crystallography and with synchrotron radiation is desirable.

PhD Positions in Supramolecular Organic Electronics, ISIS-UdS, Strasbourg: Chemistry and Material Science

Two Marie-Curie Early Stage Researcher (ESR; PhD) positions in “Graphene based Supramolecular Organic Electronics” are available at ISIS, University of Strasbourg (France) within the frame work of “GENIUS” Marie Curie Initial Training Network funded by the EU . We are looking for highly motivated graduate students with a strong background in one or more of the following fields: chemistry and materials science, surface science, solid state physics, supramolecular chemistry. A Master Degree in Chemistry or Materials Science and excellent command of English is required. Appointees can be nationals of any country other than the country of the premises of the host organization where they will carry out their project. However they must not have resided or carried out their main activity in the country of the host for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to their recruitment. Master/Ph.D. Studentships in Theoretical and Computational Chemistry, Canada

Up to 4 graduate student positions in theoretical and computational chemistry will become available in my group by May 2011, September 2011 or January 2012. The successful applicants will be involved with the development of new computational methods or applications of state-of-the-art methodology to problems of chemical interest. .The applicant should have a solid background in Physical Chemistry, and a strong interest in Theoretical/Computational Chemistry as well as an average GPA corresponding to 3.5/4.0 (80 %) or more in the North American system. All foreign students will be covered by an inexpensive medical insurance. Students will be fully supported by teaching assistance ships and scholarships for a total of $ 22,000 to $24,000 CDN. The tuition fee is covered by additional research grants . Foreign students with English as a second language must pass the TOEFL test with a score of 580.
