University of Alabama Offers PhD Positions in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, USA

The laboratory is engaged in several research projects covering monitoring of human behaviors in natural environment and biofeedback. The positions are available in two tracks:

1. Wearable sensor development. The ideal candidate will have a hands-on experience in design, prototyping and fabrication of digital
and analog electronic circuits, microcontroller interfacing, C/C++ programming, as well as familiarity with Matlab, Labview and digital signal processing.

2. Signal processing and pattern recognition. The ideal candidate will have a practical experience with signal processing algorithms as well
as familiarity with method of machine learning and computational intelligence. Matlab, Labview and C/C+ (or Java) proficiency is desired.

The candidate is expected to be a reliable and self-motivated team player. The assistantship covers a yearly stipend and tuition. These positions may potentially lead to a PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Undergraduate Scholarship in Computer Science at Politecnico di Torino, Italy

The project offers international students the possibility to receive a scholarship and other benefits to graduate from the Politecnico di Torino attending the Bachelor of Science program in Computer Engineering (Ingegneria Informatica) at the Verrès campus. The initiative is promoted by the Politecnico di Torino and supported by Regione Valle d’Aosta.

  1. Being not an Italian citizen, or being an Italian citizen who is also in possess of another citizenship
  2. Being at least 18 years old (by 15/09/2011)
  3. Having successfully submitted a complete application for the Bachelor program in Computer Engineering (corso di Laurea in Ingegneria Informatica) of the Politecnico di Torino for the 2011/2012 academic year.
  4. Knowledge of the Italian language, preferably demonstrated by an international certification
  5. Not having enrolled at the Politecnico di Torino before the 2011/2012 academic year
  6. Not being the recipient of other scholarships, Italian or foreign.

Graduate Fellowship in Computer Science and Engineering, University of Nevada, USA

The fellowships are open to new doctoral students who have been accepted to the Ph.D. program in CSE for Fall 2011. Each fellowship provides a stipend of $23,000; an additional $7,000 is provided for covering tuition fees, health insurance, and other fees. Each fellowship is for up to three years of support, provided that academic progress is maintained. Specific details about fellowship requirements, obligations, and application process are provided below.
The department currently has 35 PhD students in the program and expects to increase the size to 50 over the next years. Students who wish to enter the Ph.D. program must possess a Bachelors (BS) or Master of Science (MS) degree in either computer science or computer engineering. The department will consider applications from students lacking this background if they show exceptional promise. Specific
