Postdoctoral Fellowship in Global Change, USA: Earth and Planetary Sciences

The Johns Hopkins University invites applications for the Glenadore and Howard L. Pim Postdoctoral Fellowship in Global Change. This fellowship is part of a Global Change Science initiative within the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences.
We seek an outstanding individual with a recent Ph.D. who is pursuing interdisciplinary research in Global Change. Candidates whose research spans the physical sciences, social sciences, health sciences and/or public policy aspects of global change are preferred. Areas of interest include but are not limited to (1) fundamental processes driving global change; (2) the impact of global change on air quality, water resources, ecosystems, and/or human health; (3) remediation of the effects of global change; (4) energy resources; and (5) analysis of economic, sociological, public health, and policy implications of global change. Special consideration will be given to candidates who will collaborate with faculty from other Hopkins departments. Information on our department can be found at http://www.eps.jhu.edu. Gilbert F. White Postdoctoral Fellowship Program, USA: Policy Relevant interdisciplinary research

Resources for the Future (RFF) will award resident fellowships for the 2011-2012 academic year in honor of Gilbert F. White, retired chairman of the RFF Board of Directors, distinguished geographer, and statesman of science. The fellowships are intended for researchers who have a doctorate degree and wish to devote a year to scholarly work in areas related to natural resources, energy, or the environment. Social scientists as well as natural scientists interested in policy-relevant interdisciplinary research are encouraged to apply. Because fellows will interact closely with RFF researchers, selection criteria will include the nature of the applicant’s proposed research program and how it fits with RFF work in progress.

Eligibility
The award is open to individuals in any discipline who have completed their doctoral requirements by the beginning of the 2011-2012 academic year. Teaching and/or research experience at the postdoctoral level is preferred though not essential. Individuals holding
positions in government as well as at academic institutions are eligible.

TWAS-CEMB Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme, Pakistan: Molecular Biology and Molecular genetics

TWAS-CEMB Postdoctoral Fellowships are tenable at departments of the National Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB) for a minimum period of six months to a maximum period of twelve months in the following fields: molecular biology, molecular genetics, plant molecular biology or medical molecular biology.
* CEMB will provide a monthly stipend which should be used to cover living costs such as food, accommodation and health insurance. The monthly stipend will not be convertible into foreign currency.
* The language of instruction is English.

Eligibility
Applicants for these fellowships must meet the following criteria:
* Be a maximum age of 45 years on 31 December of the application year;
* Be nationals of a developing country (other than Pakistan);
* Be regularly employed in a developing country (other than Pakistan) and hold a research assignment there;
* Hold a PhD degree in a field of natural sciences;
* Provide an official letter of acceptance from CEMB (see sample of acceptance letter included in the application form).
* Provide evidence of proficiency in English.
