The Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctorate in Sustainable Energy Technologies and Strategies (SETS) 2011

The Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctorate in Sustainable Energy Technologies and Strategies (SETS) is an international programme offered by six of the most renowned universities in this field of knowledge.
The doctorate copes with the challenge to lead the technological transition required by today’s world, where a compromise must be reached between energy and sustainability. Some of the research topics of the programme are future energy networks, regulation and economics of energy systems in future European scenarios and sustainable development.
SETS Joint Doctorate is the only Ph.D. programme on energy and sustainability awarded the Erasmus Mundus excellence label by the European Commission. This excellence label has been granted only to twenty two international doctorates in all disciplines and Universities across Europe so far.

PHD Scholarship for Students Pursuing Studies in Environmental Economics,University of Pretoria, South Africa

Under this program, PhD Scholarships will be offered to candidates intending to pursue PhD studies in environmental economics. Eligible candidates include all African scholars who have been admitted or will be admitted for PhD studies at the University of Pretoria. There will be two doctoral scholarships each year over the life of the project. The scholarship will be designed to reward especially those with strong academic performances in their bachelors and masters degrees. Selection will be done by the CEEPA Secretariat and will be on a competitive basis and taking into account gender and geographical considerations.

This scholarship provides a subsistence allowance of R3000.00 per month plus all other costs associated with the study program such as tuition, registrations, medical cover and travel costs. The scholarship is granted for a maximum duration of 3 years.

Scholarship Application Deadline: Applicants must separately send to CEEPA the following required documents no later than end of December of the year preceding the year of admission to and commencement of the PhD program.

International Summer School Scholarship 2011, Istanbul: Anthropology, Demography, Economics, Political Science

The Migration Research Center at Koç University, MiReKoc, is launching its first Summer School Program on July 3-10, 2011. Designed as a one-week summer school course on the premises of Koç University’s main campus in Sar?yer, Istanbul, the program will provide research-oriented, interdisciplinary, and innovative academic courses on migration, as well as workshops on related policy issues for professional development. A week of lectures and discussions will be given by a distinguished international faculty, and coursework will be combined with field trips within Istanbul involving seminars given by government policymakers. While applications from all over the world are encouraged, only a select number of applicants admitted on merit will be eligible for scholarships.
Course offerings will take into account the various needs of academic and professional development in the field of international migration across a wide range of disciplines, including anthropology, demography, economics, political science, sociology, and international relations. The program seeks to bring together groups of interested individuals from an enormously varied geographical, cultural, and academic background to study intensively for a week in Istanbul. The courses will be taught by a team of well-known academics in the field who will also represent a wide range of countries in an effort to match the diversity of the student body. Such a multi-cultural composition will provide a stimulating environment for engaging participants and faculty in an inspiring and enriching dialogue during the summer school program on migration relation issues.
