Multiple PhD Stipends/Scholarships at the AQUA Group, University of Kaiserslautern, Germany

The Software Engineering: Analysis of Quantitative Aspects (AQUA) group is a newly founded research group which focuses on integrating statistical concepts into practical software engineering.

Basically, the benefits can be summarised as follows:
–   You will work on real-world research problems. (There will always be opportunities to cooperate with major software and systems engineering companies, especially in the automotive and avionic domain.)
–   You will be trained in all skills that are required to successfully finish you research project. Our goal is to help you develop the skills, connections, and opportunities required, that ensure a successful postgraduate career.

We require:
We are interested in a PhD student who has a good academic record (first class honours or equivalent with marks above 80-85%) with background in one or more of the following areas:
–   probabilistic logics and probabilistic verification
–   quality attributes such as performance, reliability, availability,
safety, and security
–    software engineering (in the areas of embedded systems, robotics, etc. )
–    formal methods in system design
–    statistics
–    machine Learning
–     mathematics
Since the projects involve working with other PhD students and industrial partner, communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment are especially required.

The scholarship carries a value of around 21,000 Euro p.a., with tuition fee exemption for both German and international students. The selection process will be competitive. If you are interested in aresearch project, please provide the following information (for the

University of Roma La Sapienza Call for PhD Fellowships, Italy: Archaeology,Architectural sciences,Astronomical,Chemical,Earth,Mathematical and Physical sciences,Civil Engineering and Architecture

The University of Rome “La Sapienza” offers 16 three year full-time postgraduate PhD positions with fellowship for attaining the degree of “Dottore di Ricerca” (PhD) in the Doctoral Schools listed in appendix. Each fellowship amounts to € 19.800,00 per year; this amount includes national insurance contributions (INPS) that fellowship recipients are required to pay (8,91% for 2011). The fellowship doesn’t cover the annual entrance fee and doesn’t increase for research periods spent
abroad.
The PhD Programme lasts three years and may be extended to a fourth year (without grant), subject to approval by the School authorities. At the end of the first and second year of attendance, students have to be evaluated as proficient according to the rules of the Schools. Students must attend the courses and the seminars offered by their Programme, pass the related examinations, and prepare a PhD dissertation, which must have original results. The PhD title is obtained at the end of the third year after the candidate dissertation and its positive evaluation made by an independent Jury appointed by the Rector. The discussion may be delayed with the approval of the School authorities, but not for more than one year.

Subject-Specific Scholarships at Sheffield Hallam University, UK: Arts, Computing, Engineering and Sciences

These scholarships are open to international (non-EU) applicants who will be enrolling in the 2011/12 academic year.Scholarship applications should be sent following an application for a taught course at Sheffield Hallam University.
You must have accepted your offer and returned your scholarship application form by30 July 2011 for courses starting in September 2011, 30 November 2011 for courses starting in January 2012, Art and design.
