Executive Fellows function as full-time professional staff in high levels of government and complete graduate seminars in Public Policy & Administration. They work on a variety of projects dealing with the development and implementation of public policy. Assignments range from research and writing to developing and implementing legislation to playing a part in the agendas of executive staff.
Maturity, initiative, ?exibility, strong communication skills as well as interpersonal and professional skills are paramount abilities needed for success in placements. Postgraduate Training Fellowships for Women Scientists from Sub-Saharan Africa and Least Developed Countries 2011

This fellowship programme is for female students from Sub-Saharan Africa or Least Developed Countries (LDCs) who wish to pursue postgraduate training leading to a doctorate degree at a centre of excellence in the South outside their own country.

* Please read the following information carefully before applying.
* Only women scientists from Sub-Saharan Africa and/or one of the Least Developed Countries can apply.
* Host institutions must be located in a developing country.
* Applications that are incomplete or illegible cannot be considered. Please make sure all the requested enclosures are submitted together with your application.

The Third World Organization for Women in Science (TWOWS) with funds generously provided by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), has instituted a fellowship programme for female students from Sub-Saharan Africa and Least Developed Countries (LDCs), who wish to pursue postgraduate training leading to a Ph.D., at centres of excellence in the South (developing countries), outside their own country.

The general purpose of the scheme is to contribute to the emergence of a new generation of women leaders in science and technology, and to promote their effective participation in the scientific and technological development of their countries.

The specific aims of the scheme are:

* To improve access to educational and training opportunities in science and technology for young and talented women graduates from Sub-Saharan Africa and LDCs.
* To increase the scientific productivity and creativity of women scientists in Sub-Saharan Africa and LDCs.
* To empower a new generation of talented women to assume a leadership role in science and technology and their application to sustainable development.

Postdoctoral for project MANTLE RHEOLOGY, France: Micromechanical modeling

The post-doc will be involved in the micromechanical modeling at the polycrystal scale. The aim is to integrate into the polycrystal model slip-system resistances inferred from experimental data, ab initio calculations, and Dislocation Dynamics (DDD). The used polycrystal model will be based on mean-field homogenization methods (self-consistent scheme associated with the “Second-Order” linearization procedure of Ponte Castañeda), although numerical computations from full-field methods could be also performed if necessary. Micromechanical modeling of such material is a challenging task since all mineral phases comprising the upper mantle exhibit an extreme viscoplastic anisotropy at the grain scale, with three or less known independent slip systems. There are many effects to be investigated, important for
both geophysical and material sciences issues, e.g.: strain partition and texture development in multiphase minerals, the rheology of partially melted polycrystals, the introduction of diffusion based mechanisms (such as dislocation climb), etc.
