2011 Fully Funded PhD Studentship at University of St Andrews, UK: Film Studies

In May 2011 we will award one full studentship to an exceptional candidate, to enable them to pursue Film Studies at St Andrews from September 2011The award will support three full years of Ph.D. study, and is available to candidates from within or outside the UK/EU. The scholarship will be awarded by competition. Applicants are invited to apply via the Postgraduate Office for a place on the programme, and their applications will be considered for this scholarship along with those of other applicants.To be eligible prospective students must have been offered a place on the PhD programme.The PhD Programme offers three-years of supervision on your own research project, culminating in a dissertation.

In addition to your study there are a range of opportunities open to PhD students at St Andrews, typically including teaching undergraduate seminars from your second year onwards, a £300 annual travel fund (subject to annual budget confirmation) for conference travel and other related expenses, an annual £100 library book/DVD fund, experience of organising events like the annual Film Studies Postgraduate Conference and the Study Day (including applying for internal funding), experience giving shorter papers at conferences and longer papers for the Centre for Film Studies, dedicated in-house workshops on various aspects of academic life in Film Studies, etc.

Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation Postgraduate Scholarships in Film, Visual & Performing Arts 2011/12, UK

The School of Arts at the University of Kent, with the support of the Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation, has a scholarship available for the 2010/11 academic year, for a Hong Kong resident graduate studying any of our taught Film MA programmes-1.MA Film Studies 2. MA Film Studies (Paris)
The scholarship will pay £15,000 over one year, which will contribute to tuition fees and accommodation.The School of Arts is home to an exciting postgraduate community, engaged in a wide variety of innovative, quality, interdisciplinary research. Our 2008 Research Assessment Exercise submission was amongst the largest and most successful departments in our research area. The studentship competition is open to any Hong Kong graduate or mainland resident with a First Degree in an Arts subject or related subject from a Hong Kong University, intending to study for a full time taught MA in the School of Arts.

2011-12 Postgraduate Scholarships at University of Kent, UK: Drama and Theatre Studies, Film Studies, Fine Art, History and Philosophy of Art, and Music and Audio

The School of Arts awards a number of postgraduate scholarships each year.  Applications are invited each year from highly-qualified students to undertake doctoral research and taught MA study. Scholarships are available in all of the following subject areas: Drama and Theatre Studies, Film Studies, Fine Art, History and Philosophy of Art, and Music and Audio. A number of School studentships, paying fees only at the home/EU rate for three years (subject to satisfactory progress) are available for Doctoral study. Holders of these studentships may be offered teaching to supplement their income, which will be separately contracted and fully remunerated at the assistant lecturer rate.
All applicants for University of Kent or School of Arts scholarships must provide the following information: 1.A covering letter confirming their offer of a place to study at Kent plus details of which scholarship(s) they would like to be considered for (and in which order).2.CV. 2.Two academic references. In addition, applicants for research degrees must provide a research proposal (max 1,000 words), together with an example of their writing, and ‘practice as research’ applicants should in addition provide an example of their practice.  Taught MA applicants should supply a sample of written work.
