Scholarships for International LLB Students at Cardiff University, UK

There are currently around 400 international students enrolled on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including the Bar Vocational Course and Legal Practice Course, within the School. Cardiff Law School offers two types of scholarship to international students (excluding students from the European Union): first, a £1,000 Entrance Bursary to those who achieve excellence at A-level or the equivalent; and second, Merit Scholarships to those who achieve outstanding academic performance whilst studying on the LLB programme at Cardiff. Terms and conditions for the awards are detailed below.
Eligibility: A £1,000 Entrance Bursary will be awarded to all students (EU not included) who enrol in the first year of the M100 LLB programme as full fee-paying students of international fee status, having achieved AAA at A-level or the local equivalent. Students whose fees are paid by a sponsor are not eligible for this bursary. The Merit Scholarships are available to first and second year undergraduate students who are enrolled on the M100 LLB programme as full fee-paying students of international fee status. Students whose fees are paid by a sponsor are not eligible for a scholarship.

Scholarship Programme for Researchers in Classics at Brown University, USA

In close cooperation with the Department of Classics at Brown University, the Gerda Henkel Foundation offers outstanding scholars in Classics an opportunity for academic research in the USA. The goal of this scholarship is to strengthen the academic exchange between established scholars from the USA and German-speaking countries. The Gerda Henkel Scholarship is awarded every two years. It covers the costs for one academic year (i.e. September to May) at Brown University, the costs of a substitute for a period of nine months at the scholar’s home university as well as support for travel and other research-related expenses. The Gerda Henkel Foundation will also cover 50 percent of the housing costs. The other half will be covered by Brown University. During the period of funding, the grant holders have no teaching obligations. The scholarship is awarded bi-annually.

Eligible candidates must:
Currently be employed by a German-speaking university or comparable academic research institution hold at least a PhD degree and demonstrate superior academic achievements give at least one lecture on their research interests during their stay at Brown, be available for occasional discussions with interested graduate students, and generally take part in the intellectual and social life of the Department of Classics present the results of their research at Brown to the Gerda Henkel Foundation, in a report and/or academic publication.

ISOPE Scholarship for Outstanding International Students: Offshore Mechanics, Ocean, Arctic, and Related Engineering fields

The International Society of Offshore and Polar Engineers (ISOPE) encourages students to study and/or to conduct research in any of Offshore Mechanics, Ocean, Arctic, and Related Engineering fields, or to participate in the annual ISOPE Conferences. For this purpose, ISOPE grants scholarships of $1,000 each to outstanding graduate students and entering new graduate students for the academic year 2011?2012. Three to five scholarships were granted each year. The recipients are encouraged to join the ISOPE student
membership.
Each scholarship offered is a competitive one. Sex, race, age, religion, nationality, etc. are not factors for consideration. The awardees are selected by the ISOPE Award Committee vote. The committee members are balanced in geopolitical distribution. No more than one scholarship shall be awarded in the same year to the applicants from one university.
