2011 PhD Scholarships for International Students, Italy: Economics, Engineering,Humanities,Law,Medicine,Sciences

Pre-selection is in progress for foreign students applying for a position in a PhD Program for the Academic Year 2011/12.The number of positions funded by the University will be established by the Graduate School after 10 June 2011. Foreign students wishing to apply for admission to a PhD Program for the Academic Year 2011/12 must submit an application no later than 25 April 2011.Some doctoral courses have specific conditions of admission. Those will be advertised on the following web page: (These conditions may include the primary language of the program and its educational activities — e.g., English or Italian).

Foreign students will be evaluated by submitting an online application by 25 April 2011. At the conclusion of the online application process, applicants must attach in electronic format a “pdf” file with a maximum size of 15 MB containing:
1. A Curriculum Vitae with details of achieved degree(s), relevant examination results and/or results of degree requirements with assessment and/or grade (i.e., transcript details), and the date of degree achievement.
2. A research proposal (maximum size of one (1) page on A4 paper)
3. A List of Publications
Foreign students are required to provide two recommendation forms & corresponding letters from two university professors either in Italy or abroad.
Eligible candidates whose application has passed preliminary screening will be invited to take part in a Skype interview with the Coordinator (or their delegate) of the applicant’s desired program of study.
The Doctoral School will publish the list of candidates granted a Skype interview and the timetable of those interviews.

2012-2013 Fulbright-Nehru Environmental Leadership Program, USA: Environmental Information/Systems Reporting, Environmental Education, Environmental Policy, Regulations and Law,Environmental Sciences and Toxicology

The program will combine short-term practical training/internship with opportunities for networking with American counterpart organizations. Selected fellows will be placed at U.S. environmental public/private or non-governmental organizations, academic institutions or research centers and environment related government agencies. Fellows will be expected to explore future linkages between Indian and American organizations with common agendas.

Grant Benefits
The fellowships provide round-trip economy class air travel from India to the U.S., a monthly stipend, Accident and Sickness Program for Exchanges per U.S. Government guidelines, modest settling-in allowance and a professional allowance. No allowance or travel is provided for dependents and the stipend provided under the grant is not sufficient to support family members. Scholars with accompanying dependents must have adequate personal funds to support their stay in the U.S.

Eligibility Requirements
In addition the General Prerequisities for all, the application should:

*preferably have a master’s or a professional degree of at least four years duration;
*have at least five years of professional experience in the respective field; and
* preferably be 50 years of age or under.

Special attention will be given to applicants who demonstrate involvement in cooperative efforts between academia, research institutions, government, industry and non-governmental organizations to make practical contributions to environmental policies and programs

2011- 2012 PhD Studentships in Law at Kent Law School, UK

Kent Law School (KLS) invites applications for full time research studentships leading to the degree of PhD commencing in September 2011. Candidates will initially register for a full time MPhil research degree at the University of Kent at Canterbury. One of these studentships will be awarded specifically for research in the area of International Law and, although the recipient will be part of the Canterbury campus postgraduate community, the associated teaching responsibilities will take place at the University’s Medway campus. The funding will be available for one year in the first instance, extended (for registered students only) for a second year providing verifiable progress has been made (in teaching and research), and extended for a third year providing the candidate has upgraded from MPhil to PhD.
The successful applicants for the studentships will receive a maintenance grant equivalent to that offered by ESRC (£13,590 in 2010/11) and tuition fees paid at the home/EU rate (£3,950 in 2010/2011).Those awarded a studentship will normally be expected to teach a maximum of four hours per week in term time on an undergraduate English law module, at the direction of the Head of Department.  Some bursaries (for example, reducing overseas fee to home fee rate) may also be available.
