PhD Fellowship in Plant Epigenetics, University of Copenhagen, Denmark

The work of the PhD fellow will consist mainly of duties in connection with the research project Epigenetic regulation of plant traits. The project aims at discover new layers of regulation of plant appearance. In biology, and specifically genetics, epigenetics is the study of inherited changes in phenotype (appearance) or gene expression caused by mechanisms other than changes in the underlying DNA sequence. These changes may remain through cell divisions for the remainder of the cell´s life and may also last for multiple generations. However, there is no change in the underlying DNA sequence of the organism; instead, non-genetic factors cause the organism´s genes to express themselves differently. The project is part of the program in the Centre for Membrane Pumps in Cells and Disease – PUMPKIN.
