2011 RADMA Doctoral Studies Funding Programme, UK: Management of Scientific and Technological activity, Research development, Product design and innovation , Strategy formulation and human resources ,Management of technology and policy

RADMA is accepting proposals under its Doctoral Studies Programme. The award provides up to three years funding to talented prospective or mid-study PhD students, offering an opportunity to concentrate on the studentship for the period of the award. The award will cover costs related to fees and specified living expenses up to a maximum of £17,500 per academic year (pro-rata for part time students). To be eligible for funding candidates must be accepted for PhD study at a UK university.

2011 Heinrich Böll Foundation Scholarship for Undergraduates, Graduates and PhD, Germany: Mathematics, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Engineering

We support undergraduates, graduates, and PhD students in all subjects who embrace the Green cause, share the fundamental values of the Heinrich Böll Foundation, can demonstrate an excellent academic record, and are socially and politically active. Our scholarship programme brings together students from all over the world.German students, students who have gained their university entrance qualification from a German school school (‘Bildungsinländer_innen’) and students from EU countries.Applicants must study a subject within the areas of Mathematics, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Enineering (university or college, e.g. Fachhochschule; degrees: Bachelor, Diploma, State Examination AND Master).Applicants studying for a first degree (degree: Bachelor, State Examination or Diploma) can apply for a scholarship before their studies begin; applications are possible within the first three semesters at the time of application.

Applicants studying in a Master’s programme can apply for a scholarship before their studies begin; applications are possible within the first semester of the Master’s programme at the time of application. Funding priority is given to subjects within the areas of Mathematics, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Engineering with a focus on sustainability and environmental and energy issues. For applications from EU countries: The regional focus is on Central and Eastern Europe.

PhD Studentship in Colloid and Interface Science, University of Cambridge, UK

Two PhD studentships are available from October 2011 to work on projects in the research group led by Dr Stuart Clarke. The projects will investigate the adsorption and mixing behaviour of molecules at the solid / solution interface using a number of novel techniques including X-ray and neutron scattering, and calorimetry. The project may make use of international facilities worldwide as well as in Cambridge.
Applicants should have, or be about to receive, at least the equivalent of a UK II.1 honours degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, physics or a related discipline. The studentship covers tuition fees plus a maintenance grant for UK and other EU nationals who are eligible for the Home/EU fees rate. Non-EU nationals may apply if they have funding in place to cover the fees differential for overseas students.
