2011-2012 Postdoctoral Fellowship in Race and Gender History, Rutgers University, New Jersey

The Rutgers Center for Historical Analysis at Rutgers University announces a postdoctoral fellowship for scholars pursuing research in race and gender studies. The successful applicant must have the doctorate in hand at the time of application, be no more than six years beyond the Ph.D., and be able to teach history courses. The fellowship of $45,000 is of one year duration and includes benefits and a $2,000 research stipend. The recipient will teach at least one small course in the history department and participate in the seminar series at the RCHA. AFR Postdoctoral Grants by EU under the Marie-Curie Cofund Scheme 2011

Applicants must be holders of a PhD diploma. They can apply until up to 8 years after obtaining their PhD.The postdoc research training has to be carried out in a different country from where the applicant has been principally working in the 24 months preceding the beginning of the intended postdoctoral funding period (mobility clause).Under the AFR scheme, early-stage researchers are eligible for the AFR PhD grant and consecutively for the AFR Postdoc grant (under the condition that they respect a mobility clause).
The project proposals will be assessed according to the following key criteria :

  • Scientific quality of the research project
  • Profile of the applicant
  • Quality of the host institution
  • Interest of the research project in the Luxembourg R&D setting.
  • For postdocs, in addition : The potential of the research project for their career development.

    2011 Postdoctoral Fellowship in Computational Sciences at RCAS in Nankang, Taiwan

    The theory group in RCAS is carrying on a joint project for the development of multi-scale simulation tools. The goal is to integrate the electronic, transport, optical, mechanic properties into a software package suitable for the simulation at the level of devices (or a certain size of molecular structures). The main duty of the job is to develop and integrate various codes in different areas of physics/engineering together for comprehensive modeling.

    We are looking for two potential candidates in the following two categories, respectively:
    1. Ab inito computations in schemes such as density-functional theory (DFT) or similar approaches.
    2. Computational electromagnetism/elasticity/optics/fluid mechanics.
    Qualification
    1. The potential candidates must have an extensive numerical coding experience in one of the areas mentioned above, and the knowledge of linux-based environment.
    2. Candidates with experiences in parallel programming may be given priority. In accordance to the salary scale of Academia Sinica, but negotiable. The appointments are for one year and renewable if there is good progress.
