Postdoctoral Position in Yeast Physiology and Fermentation, Sweden

A two year post doctoral position on yeast stress during growth in industrial media is available. The project is a project on bio-based production of industrial chemicals in yeast, a collaboration between two research groups at Chalmers and three industrial partners. In this position you will work with fermentation of industrial side streams from the paper and pulping industry. Furthermore, you will investigate of the extent of toxicity and the inhibition mechanism at elevated product concentrations. The physiological impact on yeast under such growth conditions will be studied in detail. The research should lead to strategies to improve the robustness of the process, either by treating the streams enzymatically or chemically or by strain engineering.

Postdoctoral Positions in Breast and Ovarian Cancer, Philadelphia

Two Postdoctoral positions are available immediately. The projects are supported by NIH/NCI (R01CA142776, 2010-2015; and Ovarian Cancer SPORE program, 2009-2014) and US Department of Defense (Breast Cancer Program, 2010-2011). My laboratory has a major focus on the cancer genome (microRNA alterations, PNAS 2006, Cancer Research 2008 and PNAS 2008), host-tumor interaction (Nature Cell Biol. 2009 and Cancer Research 2010), cancer stem cells (JBC 2010) as well as cancer biological therapy (New Eng. J. Med. 2003 and Nature Med. 2004) of ovarian and breast cancers. The projects will focus on: 1) miRNA deregulation and function in ovarian and breast cancers; 2) somatic and cancer stem cells; and 3) development genetic model (transgenic and knock-out) for epithelial ovarian cancer. We are seeking candidates who are self motivated and career-oriented to join an exciting highly interactive research team.

Postdoctoral Positions at MAXlab, Sweden: Synchrotron X-ray techniques to study in-situ some of the fundamental steps involved in several oxidative processes.

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position as part of a Swedish funded research program, which aims at applying synchrotron X-ray techniques to study in-situ some of the fundamental steps involved in several oxidative processes. The task will be to design, assemble and test electrochemical cells suited to the demands of a particular experiment. Demonstrated practical experience with electrochemical equipment and knowledge of the X-ray absorption technique are necessary.

Eligibility requires a PhD degree in physics, chemistry, chemical engineering or materials science awarded not more than 5 years before the application date.
The MAX-laboratory is a Swedish National Laboratory in Lund, Sweden. It presently consists of three electron storage rings and provides photons from IR up to the hard X-ray regime, serving 800 scientists a year.

Scholarship Application Deadline: 15 February 2011
