Australia-India Strategic Research Fund, Australia-India: Strategic Research

The Australia-India Strategic Research Fund (AISRF) is a platform for bilateral collaborationin science, jointly managed and funded by the governments of India and Australia. Since its establishment in 2006, the AISRF has supported collaborative, leading-edge research between scientists in India and Australia across a range of agreed priority areas.
It has also helped to build linkages between premier research and educational institutions in both countries.
The AISRF is Australia’s largest fund dedicated to bilateral collaboration in science with any country. The Australian Government has committed a total of AUD 65 million over the current life of the Fund, with the Government of India providing matching funding. It is also one of India’s largest sources of support for international collaboration in science.
The AISRF consists of different components, each of which has specific objectives, application processes and funding rules. Currently, the components are:
– the Indo-Australian Science and Technology Fund;
– the Indo-Australian Biotechnology Fund; and
– the Grand Challenge Fund.

Eligibility for funding
To be eligible for funding under the Grand Challenge Fund the consortium must:
– include at least one Australian and one Indian ‘eligible organisation’
– seek support for a collaborative research project in one of the priority themes

India specific criterion:
– Indian consortium members must lodge one hard copy of the expression of interest and, if invited to proceed to Stage 2 three copies of the full application with DST.

Executive Fellowship Program 2011-2012, USA: Public Policy and Administration

Executive Fellowship Program is jointly sponsored by the Center for California Studies at California State University, Sacramento and the Of?ce of the Governor. The goal of the program is to facilitate a unique pragmatic learning experience for bright, talented and dedicated individuals by bridging academia with professional practice. The program also aims to inspire effective and ethical public leadership for California and promote an appreciation for the complexity, value and rewards of public service.
Executive Fellows function as full-time professional staff in high levels of government and complete graduate seminars in Public Policy & Administration. They work on a variety of projects dealing with the development and implementation of public policy. Assignments range from research and writing to developing and implementing legislation to playing a part in the agendas of executive staff.
Maturity, initiative, ?exibility, strong communication skills as well as interpersonal and professional skills are paramount abilities needed for success in placements. Underlying these skills is the motivation and commitment to public service and interest in learning about leadership and government in California.
In order to complete a recommendation, please do the following:
• Complete the applicant evaluation section (see next page).
• Write a letter to the selection committee. Letter must be on letterhead.
• Seal the letter and evaluation form in an envelope addressed to the Executive Fellowship Program and sign
the back ?ap.
• Return the envelope (form and letter sealed inside) to the applicant. The applicant will submit your sealed
recommendation to us directly. If there is no way to comply with this step, mail the letter directly to the

David Edge Studentship 2011, UK: Science and Technology

The David Edge studentship provides support for a full-time student in either the MSc Science and Technology Policy and Management or the MSc Science and Technology Studies at the University of Edinburgh. The studentship is awarded by ISSTI in honour of the life and achievements of Dr David Edge (1932-2003).
The studentship covers the costs of the University UK/EU fees for the one-year full-time course plus research expenses. Applications are welcome from within or outside the European Union, but the studentship does not cover the full costs of fees for non-EU students.
