The Lucinda Beneventi Findley Scholarship in History 2011, USA: Political History

The daughter of the American revolution, a D.C.-based non-profit, works to preserve and celebrate our nation’s heritage through education, special events, and a museum.  As someone who majored in history in college (with an emphasis on American history), I thought that this would be an appropriate first scholarship to examine.Aligned with their mission, the Daughters of the American Revolution are very active in providing scholarship opportunities for students which exceed over$1500,000 per year  Every year the DAR, awards several scholarships to qualifying high school students. While membership to the DAR is limited to females, these scholarship opportunities are available to everyone, regardless of gender (or your ancestors’ participation in the American Revolution. A one-time $2,000 awarded to graduating high school seniors that have demonstrated advance interest in history and are planning to major in or pursue the study of history in a full-time accredited college or university in the United States.  The applicant must have a GPA of 3.25.

AUN/SEED-Net Master’s Scholarship Program 2011, Thailand: Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Environmental Engineering

The AUN/SEED-Net Project with support from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) provides scholarships to highly qualified young teaching staff and graduating students/young graduates (i.e., potential future faculty staff) of Member Institutions to acquire master’s degrees in the following nine engineering fields at respective Host Institutions in other countries.
In order for AUN/SEED-Net students to produce high quality thesis research of international standard and to ensure the completion of the master’s degree within two years, AUN/SEEDNet provides vital support, in terms of financial and academic, through joint thesis research supervision, to AUN/SEED-Net Master’s students at all Host Institutions. The joint thesis research supervision will be carried out through the Collaborative Research Program, which has been created by each Host Institution for a few well-defined research themes (or research umbrellas) in consultation with Japanese Field Coordinating University, each of which is a collection of interrelated and progressively conducted thesis research topics. Each AUN/SEED-Net student (including doctoral sandwich student) shall conduct thesis research under one of these research themes.

DAR,Enid Hall Griswold,Memorial Scholarship in American History, 2011, USA

The DAR Scholarship Committee awards scholarships to qualified applicants regardless of race, religion, sex or national origin. All multi-year scholarships, typically renewable up to four years, must be for consecutive years of attendance at an accredited college or university in the United States. The ONLY exception is the American Indian Scholarship that is available for students pursuing vocational training. The Enid Hall Griswold Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a deserving junior or senior enrolled in an accredited college or university in the United States who is pursuing a major in either political science, history, government, or economics.This is a one-time award in the amount of $1,000.All applicants must obtain a letter of sponsorship from their local DAR chapter. (The only exception is the American Indian Scholarship.) Your state scholarship chairman will assist in locating the chapter nearest you. Please send a self-addressed, stamped business-size envelope to obtain the name and address of your state scholarship chairman and an application for any of the following scholarships.
