Graduate Assistantship Position at University of West Florida, USA: Environmental Studies

The Department of Environmental Studies and the Online GIS Certificate Program at The University of West Florida invite applications for a twelve-month Graduate Assistantship to begin as early as August 22, 2011. Compensation includes tuition (36
credits) towards M.S. Environmental Science and salary (14k per year for two years). The successful candidate will be expected to assist in online GIS Certificate Program courses such as Introduction to GIS, Cartography, Remote Sensing + Photo Interpretation, and GIS Programming as well as provide assistance with outreach activities. Requirements include a B.S. or B.A. in Geography, Environmental Studies, or related degree, 3.2 GPA, 1000 on GRE, acceptance to graduate program, and eligibility to work in the United States. The ideal candidate must demonstrate theoretical and practical experience with GIS, communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and be organized, productive and ethical.Applicants are encouraged to visit http://www.uwf.edu/gis/gisonline/

2011 PhD Positions in Immunology and Microbiology at K.U.Leuven University in Netherlands

Disinfectants are important tools in the battle against hospital acquired infections. However, some aspects of the activity of disinfectants remain unknown. This project aims to understand the pharmacokinetic aspects of various disinfectants. We are interested in understanding this issue at various levels, e.g. the relation between contact time and concentration of the disinfectant in an in vivo situation, the residual activity of a disinfectant in relation to the drying time, interaction of various disinfectants with the environment and potential inhibitors, and the in vitro activity of disinfectants against micro-organisms causing hospital acquired infections (Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa) to acquire epidemiologic data. The student enrolled in the program will therefore be able to get experience in a wide spectrum of experimental techniques.
Your profile:
– You have a Master degree in the domain of Biomedical Sciences (e.g., Master in Biomedical Sciences, Master in Biology/Chemistry/Biochemistry, Master in Engineering: biomedical technology, Master in Medicine) or equivalent. You should have obtained your Master degree prior to appointment (last year students can also apply for this position);
– You have a good knowledge and strong interest in microbiology (bacteriology) and laboratory skills
– You are creative, like to take initiative and able to work independently;
– You have good educational and communicative skills and necessary sense for responsibility.

SRF Positions in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Bengal Engineering and Science University, India

The Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur, established as Civil Engineering College, Calcutta, way back in 1856 with the idea of introducing engineering education in the country, has a long and checkered past. The University was known as Calcutta Civil Engineering College on and from 24th November, 1856, when there were only 10 students and a few instructive staff. From 12th February, 1920 the name was changed to B.E. College Shibpur. The word Shibpur was deleted from 24th March, 1921. Till 1992, it was a constituent college of the Calcutta University. In recognition of its service to the nation for all these years, the college was elevated to the status of a Deemed University in 1992 and the Honourable President of India, Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma, formally inaugurated Bengal Engineering College (A Deemed University) on March 13, 1993. On 1st October, 2004, the deemed university was elevated to the status of a University with its present name.
