2011 Crafoord Prize by Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, Sweden: Astronomy and mathematics, biosciences, geosciences or polyarthritis research

The Crafoord Prize in astronomy and mathematics, biosciences, geosciences or polyarthritis research is awarded by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences annually according to a rotating scheme. The prize sum of SEK 4 million (approx. $590,000 CAN) makes the Crafoord one of the world´s largest scientific prizes.

Laureates are appointed by the Academy of Sciences in accordance with the same principles as in the choice of Nobel and the prize may be shared by more than one individual. The subject areas have also been selected such that they complement the Nobel Prize. The Prize is designed to honour work in fields ineligible for Nobel Prizes; it is awarded to scientists in different fields on a rotating basis every year. Postdoctoral Associate Position, Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology, Poland

Laboratory of Cell Signaling and Metabolic Disorders is currently recruiting Postdoctoral Associate to undertake a project: “Molecular Mechanisms of Insulin Resistance and Beta-cell Failure in Type 2 Diabetes”.

Applicants should hold a PhD degree in the fields of life sciences no more than four years of post-doctoral training and have extensive experience in molecular biology, cell biology and/or biochemistry.

PhD Fellowship in Drug Delivery, Denmark

The purpose of the Drug Research Academy is to train the next generation of drug researchers. Emphasis is on integrated research training to enable researchers to conduct innovative drug research in an interdisciplinary and highly integrated environment. The PhD study programme includes obligatory PhD courses with focus on key elements in drug research. The industrial perspective is considered essential and at least three months of research must be carried out in an industrial environment. Applications are invited for the three-year fellowship from candidates that hold or expect to hold a master´s degree in a field relevant to the following project:
