Food Valley Ambassador Program for Students, Netherlands: Food Technology or Food Safety

The Food Valley Ambassador Program is looking for international students with the ambition to start an international career in food and life sciences research. The program is organised by the Food Valley organisation, Wageningen University, Nutri-akt and ten multinational companies. These companies offer high-potential students an extra-long one-year internship opportunity in the Food Valley region. The program strives to connect you with a company that has activities in your home country.

Scholarship Application Deadline: If you hold an EU or EES (Icelandic, Norwegian, Swiss), American (USA), Canadian, Australian or Japanese nationality and want to join the MSc programme Food Technology or Food Safety at Wageningen University in September 2011, you have to apply for the Food Valley Ambassador scholarship before June 15, 2011.
If you hold another nationality, you have to apply for the Food Valley Ambassador scholarship before May 1, 2011.

Taiwan International Graduate Program, Taiwan: Chemical Biology and Molecular Biophysics

The Taiwan International Graduate Program is a Ph.D. program, started in 2002, established by Academia Sinica, the foremost research institution of Taiwan. In cooperation with top universities in Taiwan, Academia Sinica offers advanced, inter-disciplinary Ph.D. Programs in nine fields that span the natural and physical sciences, as well as computational linguistics. TIGP students will learn in all-English teaching and research environments, and enjoy access to world-class faculty and state-of-the-art research facilities at Academia Sinica and partner universities. All applicants who are admitted to TIGP will receive a fellowship from Academia Sinica. Fellowship will be granted for applicants who receive admission. The stipend levels are about US$ 11,000 per year. Additionally, the support will be extended to two more years for those students who perform well academically.

Katharine H. Putnam Fellowships in Plant Science,USA

The Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University invites applicants for research fellowships in plant science. Putnam Fellowships offer excellent opportunities for advanced research and study using the Arboretum’s living collections of trees and shrubs. Scientists and horticulturists with a PhD and who have identified a research project that would utilize the Arboretum’s living collections are encouraged to apply.
Putnam Fellows conduct basic and applied research in the plant sciences. The goal of the program is to facilitate the research use of the Arboretum’s living collections, thereby stimulating their use within the larger scientific community. The research topics of past Putnam Fellows have included taxonomy and systematics, physiological ecology, propagation, plant-insect and/or -pathogen interactions, and collections management. The Putnam Fellowship Program has attracted a diverse array of scholars, and many have gone on to be leaders in academia and public horticulture.
