2011 AXA PhD Fellowships, King’s College London, UK: Finance and Economics, Science, Technology, Social sciences

Applicants must have completed a Masters degree before they commence their PhD. There is no age restriction. The AXA Research Fund is seeking to provide support to  Students who wish to undertake a Ph.D. in a member state of the European Union or in one of the associated countries according to the 7th EU Framework Programme (FP7)1. In such cases, the Fund does not impose any conditions regarding the nationality of the applicant or the country of the laboratory where the master was undertaken. – Students who are citizens of one of the member states of the European Union or one of the associated countries according to the FP71, and who have obtained their master in one of these same countries. In such cases, the Fund does not impose any conditions regarding the country of the Ph.D.’s host laboratory.
The selection criteria are as follows:
1. The applicant’s academic excellence, judged on the high standard of his or her master and the quality of previous course work.
2. The originality of the Ph.D. project, its feasibility (access to the resources, etc.) and the impact of its potential outcomes.
3. The international scope of the host research laboratory.
Students who would like to be considered for the AXA PhD Fellowship are asked to discuss this with their supervisor/Department. It will be the responsibility of the academic Departments/Schools to nominate a limited number or their chosen candidates to the Graduate School for selection.

Master’s and PhD Scholarships in Science and Technology, Lancaster University 2011-2012, UK

For the academic year 2011-2012, the Science and Technology Graduate School is offering five Overseas Master’s Scholarships and Eight PhD Scholarships. Candidates are put forward by the departments where they wish to undertake their studies.
Overseas Master’s Scholarships:The scholarships are for self-financed overseas students. There will be an open competitive process whereby all self-financed overseas students, who have accepted an offer by the 28th of February 2011, will be automatically considered for the award. To qualify students must have an unconditional offer of study. Each department will nominate two candidates by the 11th of March 2011, who will then be assessed by the awards committee.
PhD Scholarships;The Science and Technology Graduate School is offering eight PhD Scholarships from the academic year 2011-2012. The scholarships are for full-time study over three years. Cases are submitted by departments where the PhD candidate will be based. In Phase I, departments make a case to receive one of four pre-allocated scholarships, subsequent to which successful departments will be able to nominate qualified candidates for these pre-allocated scholarships. The remaining scholarships (including any that remain unfilled from the pre-allocated pool) will be available to all departments in an open competition. Up to three students can be nominated for an open scholarship by a department.

2011 Huayu Enrichment Scholarship Program for International Students, China

To encourage international students (excluding Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao SAR students) to undertake Mandarin language (Huayu) courses in the Republic of China (Taiwan), in order to provide them with opportunities to increase their understanding of Taiwanese culture and society, and to promote mutual understanding and interactions between Taiwan and the international community.

Eligibility
International applicants above the age of 18, who possess a high school diploma or higher, excellent academic performance, and are of good moral character may apply. Candidates with one of the following qualifications may not apply.
a. Overseas Chinese students or a national of the R.O.C.
b. Students currently registered at a Mandarin Language Center or in a degree program at any university or college in Taiwan.
c. Individuals who have already received a HES or a Taiwan scholarship in the past.
d. Exchange students to Taiwan during the scholarship period.
e. Individuals currently receiving financial benefits from the Taiwan government or other educational institutions
