2011 Army Nurse Corps Association Memorial Scholarship Program, USA

The purpose of the Army Nurse Corps Association Scholarship Program is to award scholarships to students attending accredited baccalaureate or graduate nursing or anesthesia programs. The 2011 scholarships will be awarded in memory of the three Army Nurses who lost their lives in the shootings at the Fort Hood Readiness Center on 5 November 2009. All three were reservists who had been activated and were being processed for deployment to Iraq and Afghanistan. LTC Juanita Warman, CPT Russell Seager and CPT John Gaffaney will be remembered for their dedication, bravery and ultimate sacrifice. For 2011, ANCA scholarships will be $3,000 per selected applicant. Selected students will be notified within a few weeks. Scholarship funds are sent to the school to be managed for the student and not sent directly to the student.
The Army Nurse Corps Association does not have an official relationship with the US Army, the Army Nurse Corps or the Reserve Officer Training Corps. Therefore, there is not a military service obligation for the student receiving this scholarship.
