Erasmus Mundus ALGANT Doctoral Scholarship for International Applicants

The ALGANT Joint Doctorate programme is open to all interested graduated students in Europe and elsewhere. The European Union supports the course by financing some six scholarships for doctoral candidates outside the European Union, and four for European ones. Other sources of funding are also available and tuition fees are kept at a very reasonable level.

Every doctoral candidate will have to work on a research project under joint supervision at a minimum of two different institutions of the consortium.

Erasmus Mundus International Masters Scholarship in Sustainable Territorial Development

STeDe Master aims to create experts in the area of sustainable territorial development. More concretely it trains professionals to be able to help organizations acting in the territory (enterprises, local communities, civil society organizations) to draft sustainable development policies for economic, social, environmental, international and intercultural management.

The Master concerns the economic competitiveness, social inclusion, environmental protection, international cooperation and intercultural relation challenges of territorial development focussing not only on local communities, but also on enterprises, non-state actors and civil society organizations. It also aims to offer an example of sustainable territory involving all local organizations, which should have human resources available and able to promote sustainable development.

The Master refers to the ability of:

– giving recommendations in the area of sustainable territorial development in the context of climate change and biodiversity loss;

– taking part in the idea, analysis and management of a sustainable development policy on the territory;

– assessing the different validation tools for sustainable development actions and policies within public and private territorial organizations.

Psychiatry: Two DPhil Studentships, UK

The Department is pleased to invite applications for 2 MRC-supported studentships, to conduct research towards a doctoral degree at the University. The department supports internationally-renowned research programmes that address the causes and treatments of psychiatric illness; it is particularly strong in neurobiology and physical treatments, psychopathology and psychological treatments, old-age and social psychiatry, psychiatric epidemiology and developmental psychopathology.

There are projects in the glucocorticoids and emotional processing, depression and the neural basis of reward, genetics of dementia and the ageing brain, psychological factors in eating disorders, electrophysiology of attention, and neural responses to trauma. Applicants are strongly advised to contact potential supervisors to discuss possible projects or their own proposals before applying. Candidates who are interested in other aspects of the research done within the Department are also encouraged to apply.
