Eligible students may receive scholarship funding plus limited low interest loans. They can also receive a maximum Federal Direct (Stafford) Loan of $20,500, which may include the maximum $8,500 subsidized component. ,To apply for financial aid, follow the steps for “Self-Supporting Programs” here. Given the high cost of fees, MEPN students often need more assistance than is available from University and Direct (Stafford) fund sources, but can apply for a Graduate PLUS Loan. A co-borrower may be required for a this loan if students fails to meet the lender’s credit standards. University of Exeter, Associate Research Fellow Epidemiology or Statistics 2011 in UK

Peninsula Medical School, within the Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry, is widely regarded as the strongest of the new medical schools in the UK. It has established an excellent reputation for high quality educational programmes and has a high quality and expanding research portfolio. From the outset the School has sought to build an international research reputation, to complement its innovative educational programme, through tight focus on areas of strength and exploitation of its pan-peninsula status.

This post will support a grant funded research project on age-related diseases, with a special focus on the effects of common genetic variation. Conditions of interest include cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, obesity and Alzheimer’s disease. There will be opportunities to develop your own research interests within the project.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated scientist to an Associate Research Fellow position. You will have a degree in epidemiology, statistics, bioinformatics or equivalent and have a knowledge and experience of undertaking statistical analyses of human study genetic and other data.

A PhD in a relevant subject or evidence of PhD level research outputs would be desirable as would skills in statistical analysis, including use of relevant software

This is a University of Exeter appointment and will be based in Exeter.

Salary will be on the Associate Research Fellow scale of £24,273 – £27,319, with access to further contribution points rising to £30,747

Point on scale will be determined by knowledge, skills and experience, and will be clarified following interview. The post will be fixed term until 30th April 2012.

The Centre for the History of Medicine (CHM) invites applications for a Research Fellow related to the CHM’s Wellcome Trust Strategic Award, Situating Medicine: New Directions in the History of Medicine’. Applications are welcome from internal and external candidates with research expertise in the History of Medicine.The Fellowship is intended for early career researchers who have no more than two year’s postdoctoral research/teaching experience and who have not held a permanent academic post. You will have an excellent academic record and the potential to pursue your chosen research subject at the highest level.You will be expected to conceptualise and conduct a public engagement project related to you own research interest and in line with the CHM’s Wellcome Trust Strategic Award focus areas.
