PhD Position in Biochemistry, University of Lund, Sweden

PhD studies in biochemistry/biophysical chemistry. The project will focus on physical-chemical studies of protein interactions with other proteins and themselves (aggregation). The studies are aimed at characterization and quantification of energetics and kinetics of interactions and discovery of new protein-protein interactions and/or oligomeric species during a process of aggregation. The project will be conducted in close collaboration with theoreticians.

Eligibility/Entry Requirements

Basic entry requirements for PhD studies are: a degree at advanced level, courses to an extent of at least 240 credits, of which at least 60 at advanced level, or corresponding proficiencies. Special requirements for this position: Master of engineering in chemistry or biotechnology, BSc, MSc or some other form of Master exam in biotechnology, chemistry, molecular biotechnology or corresponding education. Undergraduate and advanced courses in physical chemistry are obligatory, and also profound knowledge in mathematics. Priority will be given to applicants with previous experience in (for example through diploma work or project) of biophysical studies of proteins, protein aggregation or protein gels with spectroscopy methods.

Postdoctoral Positions in Social Research on Alcohol and Drugs, Stockholm University, Sweden

The position is announced within the Centre of Excellence programme Exclusion and inclusion in the late welfare state: the case of alcohol and drugs. The aim of the research programme is to study ongoing changes in the area of alcohol and drugs in contemporary Sweden using a broad social science perspective. The programme includes three interrelated themes: (1) consumption: problems and norms, (2) alcohol and drug policy and its implications and (3) addiction and dependence: societal reactions, treatment and recovery processes. To pursue advanced research within one or several programme themes, to collaborate with other researchers in the programme and to apply for funding for new research projects within the programme.
Eligibility: PhD in a subject relevant to the research programme and theoretical as well as methodological skills of importance to the present research tasks. Previous experience of social alcohol and drug research is a requirement and a documented ability to formulate research projects that generate research support is considered an additional qualification.

A short summary (1-2 pages) of the applicant’s research activities of specific relevance to the position should also be enclosed. A somewhat longer (5-10 pages) description of the research she/he plans to conduct and how it relates to one or more of the research themes within the programme should also be attached. In addition to specifying aims and methods, it should be clear from the description how the research is related to previous research in this area and how it is relevant to the research programme in question.

PhD Positions in Law, University of Amsterdam, Netherlands

Research will be carried out in one of the research programmes of the Faculty’s centres of excellence.Research in the field of public international law is embedded in the ACIL (Amsterdam Center for International Law). Research programmes within the ACIL in particular focus on international constitutional law (including human rights law), international responsibility, international criminal justice, and the reception of international law in the domestic legal order.

  • Engage in supervised scientific research that will ultimately result in a doctoral thesis
  • Candidates may also lecture on subjects relevant to the thesis in the Faculty’s curriculum
  • Regularly present intermediate research results at international workshops and conferences, and publish them in proceedings and journals.
  • Collaborate with the researchers in relevant other parts of the programmes.
