2 PhD Scholarship in Business at Aarhus School of Business, Denmark

The Aarhus School of Business and Social Sciences is, in collaboration with the Sino-Danish University Centre, advertising one PhD Scholarship available as of August 1st 2011 or as soon as possible thereafter. The successful candidate will conduct research as part of the research project ‘Heterogeneous Business Regimes in China sponsored by the Sino-Danish University Centre.

The applications will subsequently be assessed by an expert selection committee, and applicants will receive the committee’s assessment of the individual application and the response to the application from Aarhus School of Business and Social Sciences approx. 1 month after the expiry of the deadline for application. The assessment of the application comprises an overall assessment of the applicant and his or her qualifications. Particular weight is attached to the project proposal, the grades obtained by the applicant in the study programme, and to whether the applicant, during the study programme or in another manner, has displayed special skills in writing major papers, e.g. a thesis.

UNESCO/ISEDC Co-Sponsored Fellowships Programme – 2011: sustainable and renewable energy

The aim of this fellowships programme is to enhance the capacity-building and human resources development in the area of sustainable and renewable energy sources in developing countries and countries in transition. The training activities in the framework of these fellowships are tenable in specialized institutions in the Russian Federation. The medium of instruction will be Russian. UNESCO will solicit applications from the developing countries and countries in transit

Fields of Study

The candidates may choose to study in the following fields of study, which are aligned with UNESCO’s objectives and programme priorities, as per approved 35 C/5 and in accordance with the decisions made by the Executive Board (161 EX/Decision 3.6.3 and 165 EX/Decision 8.6) :

(a) Energy and sustainable development;
(b) Ecological management of energy resources;
(c) Renewable energy;
(d) Sustainable and renewable energy power generation.

Duration
One month duration: from October to November 2011.

Qualifications Required
Candidates must meet the following criteria:

(a) Holder of at least a BSc degree or BA in Economics;
(b) Proficient in the Russian language;
(c) Not more than 45 years of age;
(d) Be in good health, both mentally and physically. ion.

UNESCO Kalinga Prize for Popularization of Science 2011

The UNESCO Kalinga Prize for the Popularization of Science is an international distinction created by UNESCO in 1951 following a donation from Mr Bijoyanand Patnaik, Founder and President of the Kalinga Foundation Trust in India.

The purpose of the Prize is to reward the efforts of a person who has had a distinguished career as a writer, editor, lecturer, radio/television programme director or film producer, which has enabled him/her to help interpret science, research and technology to the public. He/she is expected to be knowledgeable of the role of science, technology and general research in the improvement of the public welfare, the enrichment of the cultural heritage of nations and the solutions to the problems of humanity. The objective of the Prize is in conformity with UNESCO’s policies and is related to the Programme on the popularization of science.

Candidates shall have made a significant contribution to the popularization of science. The Prize may be conferred only upon individuals. A work that has been produced by two or three persons shall not be considered
