150 Scholarships in Belgium for Developing Countries Students: Aquaculture, tropical animal and plant resources, environmental management

You will find on this site a list of international courses and training programmes for which there is a possibility of scholarship and the modalities of introduction of an application file as well as the rules of selection. These rules define the conformity of the files and therefore are very important.

Eligibility:
1. Only applicants originating in developing countries, qualify for selection. To be eligible, candidates must reside and work in their country at the time of the introduction of the file.

2. Only the nationals of the following countries are authorized to postulate with our Scholarships :

3. At the beginning of the programme, candidates must be less than 40 years old for courses, and less than 45 years old for training programmes.

4. Candidates must be holders of a degree that is comparable to a Belgian University graduate degree (“licence”). However, for certain programmes different rules of admissibility may be defined, and these are specified hereafter, where appropriate.

5. Candidates must show professional experience of at least two years upon termination of their studies. Where candidates are holders of a postgraduate degree delivered by an university of an industrial country, they must show professional experience of at least three years upon termination of their studies.

6. Candidates must have a good knowledge of written and spoken French; for programmes organised in another language, good knowledge, in writing and speaking, of this language, is required. Moreover, the candidate will be asked to commit himself to study French in order to be able to participate in daily life in Belgium.

7. Candidates are not allowed to apply for more than one programme.

Utrecht Excellence Scholarships for Master’s Programmes, Netherlands

The Utrecht Excellence Scholarship offers a number of highly talented prospective students the opportunity to pursue a degree in a selected number of fields at Utrecht University:

International Bachelor’s programmes:

International Master’s programmes offered by the following Graduate Schools:

* Graduate School of Geo sciences
* Graduate School of Humanities
* Graduate School of Law, Economics and Governance

* Graduate School of Social and Behavioural Sciences

The scholarship programme is highly selective. Only candidates showing the highest achievement and promise may receive a scholarship.

Duration and number of scholarships

Selected students receive a scholarship for the duration of the degree programme, which is a maximum of two years for a Master’s degree and three years for a Bachelor’s degree. Approximately 55 scholarships are awarded each year. The scholarship will only be renewed for the second (and third) year if the student is making satisfactory progress towards the degree.
Amount of scholarship

Selected students are awarded a scholarship between 5 000 and 27 300 euro per year. Students should be aware that the grant is not necessarily a full scholarship, and that it may be necessary to find additional funding to be able to finance study and stay completely. As one of the requirements for being granted a residence permit in the Netherlands, students from abroad must prove to the IND (immigration and naturalisation office) that they have sufficient financial means. Eligibility criteria

The applicant must meet the eligibility criteria in order to be considered for this scholarship. The applicant should:

1. Not have the Dutch or an EU/EER nationality;
2. Hold a non-Dutch secondary school diploma;
3. Have been admitted to an International Master’s programme within one of the Graduate Schools mentioned above, the Bachelor’s programme in Economics and Business Economics or to University College Utrecht;
4. Hold a relevant Bachelor’s degree (for a Master’s programme) or secondary school diploma (for a Bachelor’s programme), or an equivalent thereof;
5. Be able to comply with the conditions to obtain a Dutch visa;

Failure to meet one or more of these criteria automatically means the student is not eligible for this scholarship.

PhD Position in Intelligent Transport Systems, Sweden

This Ph.D student positions is a part of Chalmers Area of Advance in Transport. The vision in this area is to be among the internationally leading universities with regards to green, safe and efficient future transport systems. To achieve this, we are building on a wide range of disciplines and close connection between research and higher education and on an intense cooperation with industry and societal actors.

In response to the need for clean, efficient, safe and sustainable transportation the position invites applicants who are willing to contribute to the research area of advanced intelligent transport system design. Activities will involve research on;

• vehicle and vehicle flow modelling and analysis,
• efficient system design by optimal autonomous applications,
• detection and identification of relevant unattended events, failures,
• elaborate novel fault tolerant Intelligent Transport Systems.

The position aims at finding novel safe and optimal methods to nowadays most urgent claims against ITS by developing fault tolerant and energy efficient solutions. The applicant should have an interest in both academic and applied research to be successful. We invite candidates interested in ground transport and traffic applications to submit their application.

Applicants should hold an M.Sc. degree (civilingenjörsexamen) in, preferably, mechanical, electrical, control or transportation engineering resp. engineering physics or related fields.

Good analytical and communication (both oral and written) skills and ability to work independently as well as become an active team member. Excellent command of English language is needed.

Knowledge of software like MATLAB, VISSIM, C++ is an advantage. As PhD positions also involve taking part in the undergraduate education, and teaching activities in the B.Sc. programs are conducted in Swedish (English in M.Sc. programs), Swedish language is also an advantage.
