Eligibility:
-The applicant and his/her parents must have foreign citizenships.
-Applicants who hold Korean citizenship are not permitted to apply for this program.
-Applicants should be in good health, both mentally and physically, to stay in Korea for an extended period of time.
-Applicants must submit the Personal Medical Assessment (included in the application form) when he/she apply for this program, and then submit an Official Medical Examination Report issued in a hospital to NIIED after passing the NIIED Selection Committee (the 2nd Selection). A serious illness reflected in the examination results will be the main cause of disqualification from the scholarship.
– Eligible Universities : The 51 listed universities (or institutions) as designated by NIIED
– Applicants (including Korean adoptees) who apply for this program via Korean Embassies must choose 3 desired universities out of the 51 universities listed below.
-All scholars, unless exempted, must take one year of Korean language course in the designated language institution.
– Scholars who have surpassed TOPIK Level 5 and want to start their degree course without the Korean language course should obtain permission from NIIED in advance.
– Applicants must be under 40 years of age as of Sep. 1st, 2012 (born after Sep. 1st, 1972).
– Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree as of September 1, 2012

Scholarship Description: Korean Government invites 322 international students from 100 countries who wish to pursue a master’s or doctoral degree in Korea. To apply for this program, you should contact one of the 1st Selection Institutions (90 Overseas Korean Embassies or 51 Domestic Universities) and submit the application no later than the mid-March.The Korean Government Scholarship Program is designed to provide higher education in Korea for international students, with the aim of promoting international exchange in education, as well as mutual friendship amongst the participating countries.

NIGERIA: 2012 SPDC Niger Delta Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme- Rivers, Delta and Bayelsa States

The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria (SPDC) is delighted to announce the third annual SPDC Niger Delta Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme for applicants from Rivers, Delta and Bayelsa States.

The main objective of the scholarship scheme is to provide an opportunity for qualifying students from the three Niger Delta States to further their education in courses that are relevant to the oil and gas industry. In the first two years of the programme, 20 students have benefitted from the opportunity to study at world-renowned institutions.

For the academic year commencing in September 2012, SPDC will award up to ten scholarships for one-year post-graduate studies; this is in partnership with three prestigious and internationally recognised universities in the United Kingdom Imperial College London, University College London and the University of Leeds.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must:

  • display intellectual ability and leadership potential;
  • meet the university’s language requirement (usually at least 6.5 in IELTS);
  • be between 21-30 years;
  • be an indigene of Rivers, Delta or Bayelsa States (documentary proof of this will be required);
  • currently reside in Nigeria;
  • intend to return and take up permanent residence in Nigeria after completion of the proposed programme of study;
  • have obtained a university degree of at least an equivalent standard to a UK  Second Class Upper (Honours Degree);
  • be neither a current nor former employee (having left employment within the last five years) of SPDC, the Royal Dutch Shell Group of Companies or Wider Perspectives Limited, or be related to current employees of any of these companies;
  • not have studied previously in the UK or any other developed country.

APPLICATION PROCESS

  • Candidates must have gained admission to study at any of the participating universities in one of the qualifying courses;
  • Application forms will be available ONLY through the participating universities, following admission;
  • Nominated applicants will attend an interview before being considered for final selection;
  • Submission deadline for 2012/2013 academic year application forms must reach participating universities no later than March 19, 2012.

The scholarship will cover tuition fees, one return flight from Nigeria to the UK and a contribution towards living expenses only.

BU Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship September 2012 entry for Nigeria, Ghana, Indonesia, Russia and Vietnam

This scholarship is offered to students who have applied to study a full-time taught postgraduate (Masters) degree at BU and who are resident in one of the following countries: Ghana, Indonesia, Nigeria, Russia or Vietnam.

Who is eligible to apply for this scholarship?

Students resident in the following countries at the time of application who are classified as ‘overseas’ for fee purposes are eligible to apply.

To which courses does this scholarship apply?

All full-time BU postgraduate courses.

How much is the scholarship worth?

50% of tuition fee payable for the standard duration of the course (excludes repeat units).

How is this scholarship paid?

Scholarships are paid by a reduction in tuition fee.

How many scholarships are awarded annually?

Ten (two for each eligible country)

What are the criteria for this scholarship?

  • You must be able to demonstrate an exceptional academic profile (equivalent to UK 1st Class Honours degree as assessed by NARIC)
  • You must be able to demonstrate an outstanding personal profile as evidenced in your personal statement.

Other information about this scholarship

  • Recipients of this scholarship cannot be in receipt of any other BU scholarship
  • Financial need will not be taken into consideration.

When will I hear if I have been successful?

Successful applicants will normally be informed by 31 June 2012. Although we may contact you with a decision in principle based on any predicted grades, your award will not be formally approved until you hold an unconditional firm offer.
