A full-time PhD scholarship is available in Biological Sciences in the CORE area of Ecology and Evolution at Macquarie University.

Project Name: Biosphere Dynamics
Possible research topics might include:

  • Global bioclimatology: analysis of present and modelled past and future changes in key variables influencing the distribution of terrestrial organisms
  • Fundamentals of primary production: synthesis of relevant observations and testing of alternative global models for natural ecosystem and crop productivity
  • Global water resources assessment: coupling river routing and land-surface process models for present and future applications
  • Large-scale data analysis of quantitative plant traits as a basis for a new generation of dynamic global vegetation models

Candidates should have a good undergraduate degree with first class honors or equivalent, in a relevant subject. Students with physical science backgrounds are particularly encouraged to apply.
