The Berlin Summer School of Social Science International Program 2011, Germany

The “Berlin Summer School in Social Sciences – Linking Theory and Empirical Research” seeks to promote young researchers by strengthening their methodological understanding in linking theory and empirical research.
The summer school is designed for PhD candidates who have already begun planning their doctoral projects in detail or are currently working on them. All applicants should already be enrolled in the PhD studies and should be pursuing doctoral dissertations that take the themes of the Berlin Summer School into consideration. For applicants in 5-year doctoral programs, we would generally recommend applying no earlier than the 2nd year of studies.
We will select thirty international participants based on academic achievement and motivation as reflected in a CV and motivation statement.

2011 Overseas Postgraduate Scholarships at St Mary’s University College, UK

St Mary’s is pleased to announce that we will be offering thirty overseas postgraduate scholarships of £4,000 each, in line with our mission. Applications should follow the regular postgraduate application process and should be accompanied by a covering letter and relevant supporting documents which address the following criteria:
•Financial need supported with evidence
•Clearly defined mission-related request and objective
•Evidence of high academic achievement (2.1 or above in first degree)
•Two academic references (as per the postgraduate application process)

INSEAD Nelson Mandela Endowed Scholarship 2011: Business & financial management

To honour the life and work of President Nelson Mandela of South Africa, the INSEAD MBA Class of ’75 created an endowment at their 30th Class Reunion to provide financial support for one or more African participants per year at INSEAD in perpetuity.
(a) outstanding academic achievement and promise
(b) aptitude for business and financial management
(c) strong likelihood of spending the better part of their working careers in Africa
(d) a firm commitment to the goals of African development, understanding amongst peoples and public interest
To be eligible for the Nelson Mandela Endowed Scholarship, candidates must be a national of a sub-Saharan African country and have spent a substantial part of their lives and received part of their prior education in Africa. Preference will be given to candidates who require proven financial assistance.
