Orion Center Research Grant for PhD and Postdoctoral Research 2011, Israel: Dead Sea Scrolls and associated literature

The Orion Center invites applications for its research grants (up to $2000). Preference is given to junior scholars (Ph.D. students and post doctoral students).
The grants are for research on the Dead Sea Scrolls and associated literature in all relevant disciplines. Preference is given to integrative studies involving the Scrolls and other aspects of Second Temple studies. Research connected with the grant must be carried out in Israel; grant recipients will be associated with the Orion Center and participate in Center programs.
The name of the applicant must appear on each page. Please include:Topic of research and a short description in English.A detailed description of the proposed research, outlining the method, goals and potential publications connected with the project,Curriculum vitae. Two references from instructors familiar with your work, along with contact information for each referee.

Carol and Eric Meyers 2011 PhD Dissertation Fellowship, W.F.Albright Institute of Archaeological Research, Israel

The Institute is awarding the Carol and Eric Meyers Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship to individuals with doctorate or post-doctorate degree. Applicants must submit application to the W.F. Albright Institute of Archaeological Research Department of Art and Art History not later than October 1, 2010. For more information about the other details of this scholarship and how to go about the application, contact Dr. Joan R. Branham chair of the Albright Fellowship Committee.

The W.F. Albright Institute of Archaeological Research is open to sponsoring short-term post-doctoral courses which involves research in biblical or early post-biblical archaeology and society. The Carol and Eric Meyers Doctoral Dissertation Fellowships allow doctoral students to complete dissertation for a period of 2 months at the Albright Institute. The Fellows are encouraged to take on topics that touch the society at the household level. Award recipients will get $5,000 grant with $3,040 of that is stipend and the remaining $1,960 is for the room and half-board at the Institute. Fellows should reside at the Institute for the duration of the research period.

2012 START Programme – Stipends for Young Researchers

The stipends serve as recognition of the scientific attainments so far by these young scholars and as an incentive for further growth by enabling them to devote themselves fully to their research.

Young scholars are eligible to apply for stipends if they:
* are no older than 30 during the year when the application is filed * (or 32 in the case of candidates who have taken maternity or childrearing leave),
* are employees or doctoral students at an institution of higher learning or other Polish institution whose chartered purposes include conducting scientific research, and
* have scientific attainments, as documented by publications in recognised scientific journals.
