Wellcome Trust Research Training Fellowships 2011, UK: Medicine

This fellowship is for medical, dental, veterinary or clinical psychology graduates who have little or no research training, but who wish to develop a long-term career in academic medicine. Applications are encouraged from individuals who wish to undertake substantial training through high-quality research in an appropriate unit or clinical research facility, towards a PhD or MD qualification.
The fellowship is open to individuals with a relevant connection to the European Economic Area (EEA) for fellowships to be held in a UK or Republic of Ireland institution. Non-UK candidates should contact the office for advice before submitting an application.
The applicant should have completed general professional training as defined by the relevant college.
-Medical graduates must have passed the relevant exam for their specialty, e.g. MRCP, MRCS, MRCOphth/FRCOphth Part 1, MRCPsych, MRCOG Part 1, MRCPCH, FRCA Part 1. GPs are advised to contact the office to clarify their eligibility.
-Dental candidates must have obtained MFD, MFDS, MGDS, MFGDP or equivalent.
-Veterinary candidates should have a degree in veterinary medicine (e.g. BVSc, BVM&S, BVMS, BVetMed, VetMB) and some experience in clinical practice. An intercalated degree is desirable, but not essential.
-Clinical psychology candidates must have obtained a professional Doctorate-level qualification in Clinical Psychology accredited by the British Psychological Society before taking up the award. Candidates are advised to contact the office to clarify their eligibility.

Wellcome Trust-Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Postdoctoral Fellowships: Biology, Medicine and Mathematics, Engineering, Computer, Physical or Chemical Sciences

The fellowships provide four years’ support for recently qualified postdoctoral researchers to gain experience of research at the interfaces between biology/medicine and mathematics, engineering, computer, physical or chemical sciences.
These awards are open to individuals with a relevant connection to the European Economic Area. If you are currently training or working in an academic or research institution in the United States, you are not eligible to apply to this scheme. You should be about to submit your doctoral thesis or have up to, but no more than, three years’ postdoctoral experience from date of your PhD viva to the deadline for applications to the scheme.Time spent outside the research environment will be taken into consideration.
You may have a background in any appropriate field of study (e.g. biology or medicine or chemistry or physics) but you must propose to address an important biomedical research question.The proposed research should fall within the Wellcome Trust’s normal funding remit.

Research Grant “Effel Donation” in Oncology and Leukaemia, Netherlands

This grant is allocated to a postdoctoral researcher affiliated to a university in the Flemish Community or affiliated to the Evangelische Protestantse Faculteit in Leuven and the Faculteit voor Protestantse Godgeleerdheid in Brussels, or to a Flemish or a Federal institute for scientific research, in order to promote research.
The candidates must have Belgian nationality or belong to one of the member states of the European Union or the European Economic Area (EU-countries, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein).A grant totalling €7,450 for the purchase of equipment or to cover bench fees. If this date falls on a Saturday or a Sunday, the closing date is moved to the following Monday at 17.00h. In order to ensure that all candidates get an equal chance, no bibliographical additions will be accepted after this date. We would like to draw your attention to the fact that the FWO is not responsible for the temporary unavailability of the system. Therefore, we advise you to submit at least one to two weeks before the closing date.
