International Relations | Scholarship for Nigerians and Africans - Part 6

2011/2012 Yale/Fox International Fellowship: Economics, Political Science, International Relations, Law

Fox International Fellowship Program aims to identify and contribute to the education of outstanding students and identify “citizen ambassadors” who, by virtue of their academic and extracurricular record, can be expected in the future to participate in guiding the world toward a more peaceful order. The FIFP, therefore, funds both the proposal and the “person.” Grant awards include airfare, a stipend for housing and living expenses for a period of one year, health insurance and funds for some in-country travel related to research.
Eligibility: Graduate level students pursuing Doctoral or Masters level degrees, graduating master’s level students are eligible.
Selection criteria:
Personal characteristics. The candidate must demonstrate commitment to serious research and also capacity for leadership and civic engagement in the larger community.
Demonstrated commitment to serious research, and a potential for leadership. The main objective of the program is to identify and help foster potential “citizen ambassadors” who will participate in guiding the world toward a more peaceful order, thus we are funding both the proposal and the “person.”
Competition is open to graduate and professional students, graduating graduate students and graduating seniors conducting research in economics, political science, international relations, law, business and finance, management, environmental policy or contemporary history, with preference for topics of contemporary, applied, institutional relevance to issues of war and peace, economic growth or stagnation. The candidates may come from different disciplines and departments as long as their project focuses on a blend of one of these fields.
Students wishing to study at Yale must demonstrate proficiency in the English language.
** Please note that applications from international students proposing research projects in their country of origin are not eligible (ie, US citizens are not eligible to apply for a fellowship at Yale). We prefer to receive applications from students who have not spent a significant amount of time in the US previously.

Fellowship Application Deadline: 21 February 2011
