With the objectives of contribution to enhancing quality of the local workforce in oil and gas industry of Vietnam, Talisman Vietnam Limited (TVL) is pleased to sponsor two full postgraduate scholarships for fall enrolment of academic year 2011 for Vietnamese professionals wishing to undertake a Master’s degree in petroleum related fields at the University of Alberta (U of A), Canada.

The scholarships aim to provide opportunities for postgraduate study at the U of A for young professionals in early or mid-career, who demonstrate both academic excellence and the potential to become leaders, decision-makers and opinion-formers in Vietnam.

Each scholarship provides tuition fee at the U of A, a stipend to cover living costs (for one person only) for maximum two years and return air travel to Vietnam (the return flight must be taken within three weeks of completion of the program of study).
3. Who is eligible to apply?
Applicants must:
• display intellectual ability and leadership potential;
• meet minimum English language standards – IELTS band score 6.5 (with not less than 5.0 in any skill) or paper based TOEFL minimum score of 550 (paper-based) or a total score of 88 with a score of at least 20 on each of the individual skill areas (internet-based).
• If you apply for MBA degree, in addition to the English Language skills evidence above, you need to provide either GMAT score minimum 600 (paper-based) or 100 (internet-based) with at least 20 on each of the individual skill area or GRE 1100 total (verbal 450 and quantitative 650)
and will normally be expected to:
• have a good academic record. Only candidates with an “excellent” (gioi or xuat sac – 8.0+) or “good” (kha – 7.5+) first degree will be considered.
• not already have received or be currently receiving financial benefit from a previous Government-Funded Scholarship;
• not already had the chance of studying in Canada or another developed country;
• not already been awarded a university doctorate from another academic institution;
• Industry experience would be a plus

FitzPatrick Family Doctoral Scholarships in Law, UK: Criminology, Criminal Justice, Penology

The UCD Institute of Criminology, part of UCD’s School of Law, is pleased to offer one doctoral scholarship in the area of criminology/ criminal justice / penology. Applications are sought from exceptional graduates for a scholarship to undertake on a full-time basis a four year funded PhD programme of research in the fields of criminology, criminal justice, or penology. The scholarship is being generously funded by the FitzPatrick Family Foundation. It is available to candidates commencing their studies in September 2011 and is tenable for a maximum of four years, renewable each year subject to satisfactory progress.
In addition the payment of fees there is an annual stipend of €16,000 per annum (plus a €500 conference attendance allowance) and is open to Irish, EU and International applicants. In the case of non EU applicants any offer is conditional on the applicant demonstrating at the time of accepting the offer that s/he has sufficient funds to supplement the living allowance to cover the cost of living in Dublin. Scholarships for Overseas Students at University of York, UK

There are three Scholarships for Overseas Students available to international students at the University of York. Application for these scholarships is online and the application form is on the link to the scholarship you apply for. The deadline for applications to be received is 30th April 2011. Late applications will not be considered. You will pay tuition fees at the overseas rate (i.e. non-EU students) you hold either a conditional or unconditional offer for study beginning in October 2011 you will be studying a full time programme at York (i.e. not HYMS or distance learning programmes).  For applicants of any nationality (outside the European Union), wishing to study any subject (excluding HYMS students) at any level as a full-time student at the University of York. The scholarship is worth one-third or one-sixth of the overseas tuition fee for each year of successful study. This is a competitive scholarship based on academic merit and financial need. For current University of York Masters students who are progressing to PhD studies at the University of York. The scholarship is worth £5,000 as a deduction from tuition fees.
