PhD Scholarships in Particle Physics at University of Southern Denmark, Denmark

The Centre for Particle Physics Phenomenology (CP3-Origins) and the Department of Physics and Chemistry at the University of Southern Denmark in Odense invite applications for two PhD scholarships. We expect the two positions to be filled in the area of strongly interacting theories beyond the Standard Model, collider phenomenology, astroparticle physics, cosmology and lattice field theory.
Appointment as a PhD Research Fellow is for three or four years. Employment stops automatically at the end of the period. The holder of the scholarship is not allowed to have other paid employment during the three- or four-year period.
The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement of 1 October 2008 on salaried PhD scholars between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).

Research Fellowships Positions in the Department of Electronic Engineering, University of Surrey, UK

The Centre for Communication Systems Research is seeking to recruit two full time researchers, initially for 1 year but extendable to longer term depending on performance. The work is funded through a project in the EU ICT Framework Program. For these openings, the successful candidates will be required to have postdoctoral research experience in University or Industry environments. Their areas of specialisation should be in the field of wireless networks, QoS routing, context awareness or self-x functionalities. For these openings, the successful applicants will be required to have experience in the general area of Mobile and Wireless Communications. Good analytical and/or simulation skills are essential. Applicants are expected to be proactive, to support other researchers and to be self-motivated.
Applicants should have a good honors degree in communications or electronic engineering, in computer science or another related discipline. Preference will be given to those with proven research and publications track record preferably with PhD and/or practical industrial experience. You will join an established research centre within a 5*A research rated EE department with a large scale wireless testbed for experimental proof of concept, excellent computing and software infrastructure for first class research, modern facilities and close links with industry.

2011 PhD Scholarship in Functional Phosphoproteomics and Nerve Biology, Denmark

The PhD project is part of a larger initiative entitled “Comprehensive functional characterization of signalling pathways in nerve endings”. Specifically the successful applicant will be performing functional studies of phosphorylated proteins involved in signalling in nerve terminals. The PhD scholarship is financed by the Lundbeck foundation and the University of Southern Denmark.
Qualifications:
– Master of Science in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Protein chemistry or other relevant education.
– Applicants with extensive knowledge in protein chemistry, biological mass spectrometry, protein characterization (especially characterization of protein phosphorylation and enrichment strategies for phosphoproteomics), molecular biology and cellular biology will be preferred.
– The successful applicant will in addition have a theoretical and practical experience in performing selected reaction monitoring (SRM) experiments on peptides for relative and absolute quantitative proteomics.
– Excellent skills in English (written and spoken).
