Three PhD Studentship in Political Science, Sweden

Two of the doctoral dissertations will comprise independent projects in political science written under the direction of a research supervisor.

The project Civil Society and the Enlightened Welfare Politics will comprise the framework for one of the doctoral dissertations, which will be written independently in cooperation with the project leader and the research supervisor.

Indicate in your cover letter whether or not you are interested in all three of these Ph.D. student positions.

Those awarded a position as a Ph.D. student shall above all engage themselves with their own doctoral education. A maximum of 20% of the position may involve other administrative and educational responsibilities at the Department. Employment as a post-graduate student requires that the student is or will be accepted to a program of post-graduate education, which is decided by one’s ability to successfully complete the program of studies. Departmental policy is that students receive financial support during their first year of post-graduate studies, and that they be employed as Ph.D. students during the final three years of their program. Regulations concerning post-graduate students are to be found in the Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 5, §§1-7, and in the University’s rules and guidelines.

Internship at World Trade Organization for Postgraduate University Students, USA

Only a limited number of such internship posts is available. Interested candidates should follow the procedures and conform to the eligibility criteria set out below. Intake to the programme is on a continuing basis, with no specific recruitment period.
Duration: Up to 24 weeks.

Assignments given to interns are intended to enhance interns’ knowledge and understanding of the WTO and of trade policy more generally. However, the needs of the Division recruiting an intern will be paramount in determining the precise nature of assignments.

Eligibility:
-Interns are recruited from among nationals of WTO Members and countries and customs territories engaged in accession negotiations.
-Interns will have completed their undergraduate studies in a relevant discipline (e.g. economics, law, political science, international relations), and shall have completed at least one year of their postgraduate studies.
-The minimum age for an intern shall be 21 years and the maximum age 30 years.
-A roster of suitable candidates is maintained from which interns are selected. In addition to the regular internship programme, the need may also arise to recruit interns at short notice for particular tasks. These recruits will also be drawn from the roster. Names will not be maintained on the roster for longer than one year.

Marie Curie Fellowships of the Gerda Henkel Foundation, Germany: History, Prehistory and Early History, Archaeology, Art History, Historic Islamic Studies, Legal History, Historical studies, religious, cultural and political sciences under the special programme Islam, the modern nation state and transnational movements.

Starting in 2011, the Gerda Henkel Foundation is offering Marie Curie Fellowships in the M4HUMAN (Mobility for experienced researchers in historical humanities including Islamic studies) programme aimed at supporting outstanding scholars. This funding initiative is co-financed by the European Commission under the EU’s Seventh Framework Programme for Research. One objective of this fixed-term programme is to increase networking between researchers in the historical humanities at the international level, including researchers in religious, cultural and political sciences under the special programme “Islam, the modern nation state and transnational movements”.

Other goals include the promotion of trans-national academic exchange, increasing transnational mobility, facilitating further education and the positive and long-term influencing of the research environment in both origin and destination countries. Research scholarships can be requested for a larger-scale research work or in connection with a research project.
The programme provides 24-month research grants for two categories of researchers:
– Experienced researchers (PhD or 4 to 10 years of comparable research experience)
– Senior researchers (post-doctoral qualifications or more than 10 years of comparable and proven research experience.
