MNRE National Solar Sciences Fellows Programme 2011, India

Fellowshiop Programme’for the year 2010–11 from Scientists of India or of Indian origin desirous of participating in cutting-edge research on critical issues related to solar energy in collaboration with leading Institutes and Scientists in India and the world.

The application has to be submitted in the prescribed proforma (Annexure I) and has to be accompanied by a short paper (not exceeding 3 pages) on the applicant’s proposed research proposal clearly identifying the new knowledge that it will help to generate along with a summary of work already carried out by the applicant in thearea. Short-listed candidates shall be invited for an interactive discussion with the Management Committee constituted by the Ministry under the ‘National Environmental Sciences Fellows Programme’. 2011 International PhD Programme in Molecular Life Sciences, Vienna

A PhD at the VBC usually lasts three or four years. The initial contract for incoming PhD students is for three years. If students are making progress in their research and would like to stay in the lab for an additional year, the thesis committee can grant an extension. All students are expected to complete their degrees within four years.

Getting into the VBC PhD programme requires three things: a written application, a personal interview, and a PhD position offer from a VBC group leader.

Postdoctoral Position in Bioinorganic Materials, Germany

You will work in a collaborative project of the Max-Planck-Institutes of Microstructure Physics in Halle and the Max-Planck-Institute of Colloid Research in Golm with initial affiliation in Halle. The position is aimed for 1 year with a possibility of an extension for 1 more year.
The intended research is in the field of synthesis, modification, and characterization of properties of materials at the boundary between biomaterials and inorganic materials. The approaches are interdisciplinary and involve gas phase deposition methods, in particular atomic layer deposition (ALD), as well as handling of biomaterials and characterization by microscopy, spectroscopy, and diffraction methods. The candidate will hold a PhD in Chemistry, Physics, or any related field, will have a strong interest in a multidisciplinary work, and an experience in either or multiple of the above techniques.
The position is aimed for an immediate start, thus applications for a soon appointment are explicitly encouraged.
