2011-2012 Leiden University Excellence Scholarship Programme, Netherlands: Law,Science and Arts

Non-EU/EEA students enrolling in a Leiden University master’s degree programme starting September 2011 or February 2012 ( All MA, MSc and LL.M programmes as mentioned on the website Master’s programmes in Leiden).1.In his or her prior academic education abroad, the applicant must have achieved excellent study results which are relevant for the programme for which the student wishes to enroll. As an indication, the student will be among the top 10% for the relevant programme followed abroad

2.The applicant will hold a non-EU/EEA passport and will not be eligible for support under the Dutch system of study grants and loans.3.Scholarships will not be awarded to applicants who have already obtained a Leiden University master’s degree.

It is possible to submit applications for more scholarship programmes simultaneously. However, it is not possible to obtain more than 1 scholarship from Leiden University for the same study programme. (terms and conditions (pdf))

John A Lamberton Research Scholarships at University of Sydney 2011, Australia: science aimed at chemical understanding of brain function and malfunction and chemistry of many classes of natural products, especially alkaloids

Established in 2004 by donations totalling $1,000,000 from the widow of John A Lamberton, these Scholarships provide financial support for postgraduate scholars of exceptional ability who are working toward higher degrees at the University of Sydney in areas emanating from and inspired by the work of Dr John A Lamberton or in the area of science aimed at chemical understanding of brain function and malfunction.

Areas emanating from and inspired by the work of Dr John A Lamberton (whose main research interests were in the chemistry of many classes of natural products, especially alkaloids) leading to greater understanding of the relationships between chemical structure and biological activity.

(2) Areas of science aimed at the chemical understanding of brain function and malfunction.

The value of the Scholarships shall be determined by the Scholarship Committee but will reflect the donor’s wish that these be considered prestigious Scholarships. Please note that only full-time candidates enrolled in higher research degrees at the University of Sydney and who are working in the areas specified in this Scholarship are eligible to hold one of these Scholarships.

Lindhard Scholarships in Physics and Astronomy, Denmark

The aim of this honours scholarship programme is to increase international recruitment of top-level students in Physics and Astronomy. The successful applicants are expected to follow courses taught in English and engage in research activities that may lead to formulation of a PhD project.

The Scholarship covers travelling expenses and local expenses including housing with 8.000 DKK (roughly equivalent to 1075 Euro) for each month of stay in Aarhus. This amount is sufficient for accommodation and living expenses for one person. Adequate accommodation will be available for the successful applicants.

The Department has a large range of internationally competitive activities, so the PhD-education takes place in a scientifically inspiring environment.
