Entrepreneurial Fellowships in photonics at Stanford University, USA

SU2P is a collaboration between the Scottish Universities (Glasgow, Heriot Watt, St. Andrews and Strathclyde) and Stanford and Caltech in California.The Fellowships are to enable exceptionally talented early career researchers to spend one year at Stanford University or one of its affiliated laboratories. The aim of the Fellowships is to allow successful applicants to develop and grow their entrepreneurial skills under mentoring provided by Stanford Photonics Research Centre (SPRC).

Scottish Overseas Research Students Award Scheme

This Scholarship award is designed to attract high performing overseas research students to Scottish universities. Each award covers the difference between the tuition fee for a UK/EU graduate student and that chargeable to an overseas graduate student. The SORSAS scholarship awards is Subject to satisfactory academic progress and are tenable for up to three years. The awards do not cover maintenance expenses.

All candidates who apply for a Scottish Overseas Research Students Award Scheme (SORSAS) and are unsuccessful, will automatically be considered for an Edinburgh Global Research Scholarship.

The University of Edinburgh will award 30 Edinburgh Global Research Scholarships in session 2011-2012 which like the SORSAS Awards will cover the difference between the overseas rate of fee and the home rate of fee.

Eligibility

The awards are open to overseas students undertaking a research degree and may be held in any field of study.

Applicants must be liable to pay tuition fees at the rate applicable to overseas students and must have already applied for admission to a full-time PhD research programme of study or currently be pursuing such a programme.
