International PhD Scholarship in School of Forensic & Investigative Sciences Centre for Material Science at UCLan, UK

Applications are invited for a full-time scholarship available in the School of Forensic & Investigative Sciences. The scholarship is tenable for up to 3 years for a PhD (via MPhil route) [subject to satisfactory progress] and is open to international applicants only. UK/EU applicants are not eligible to apply. The scholarship will provide £15000 towards the cost of the International tuition fee over 3 years.
A variety of adsorbents such as carbon, hydrogels, clays, silca gels etc employed for the removal of radionuclides from aqueous solutions have been reported; but each has inherent limitations. The discovery of mesoporous materials with large surface area and wide uniform pores has provided a new dimension for the removal/recovery of radionuclides.
This project aims to develop new mesoporous silicates that have selectively for certain radionuclides or families of radionuclides. This will be achieved by engineering specific sites within the silicate structure during the preparative stage that can accommodate specific radionuclides whilst excluding others. This exclusion may be based on size and/or interactions with functional groups inserted into the lattice structure

Goa Education Trust (GET) has been conceptualized by the industrious Dempo and Fomento groups from Goa. GET is aimed to provide Goans an efficient medium to pursue the best available opportunities in education, in whatever areas they desire. It will provide scholarships and/or research fellowships etc. to Eligible Students for their post graduate studies in the United Kingdom in all spheres, fields and departments
Since the introduction of the scholarship in 2010, several Goan students have successfully completed their studies in subjects as diverse as Journalism, Education, Ancient History and the law.

What do the scholarships cover?
-Full or part tuition fees
Please note: All other costs are to be borne by the students.

Eligibility Criteria:
The applicant should:
be an Indian citizen with a valid Indian passport and residing in India at the time of applying for the scholarship
be resident in Goa or born of Goan parents
be not more than 30 years old at the time of applying for the scholarship
be a graduate and have excellent academic track record and extra curricular achievement
have confirmed admission for any academic course of study in the UK for up to one year

MSc in Investment Analysis – Karen Napier Scholarships, UK

The Karen Napier Scholarships are generously funded by the Karen Napier Charity in memory of Karen, a graduate of the MSc in Investment Analysis. Each Scholarship will meet the course fees at the Home/EC rate and will offer £3,500 toward maintenance. In addition, the Accounting and Finance Division will waive the remainder of the course fees in the event that a Scholarship is awarded to an overseas fee paying applicant. Complete the Karen Napier Scholarship application form, ensuring that all sections are answered legibly. Pay particular attention to the section which requires a handwritten statement of approximately 500 words on why a Scholarship would help you, and what your career or educational aims are for the five year period after you graduate from the Investment Analysis course. The closing date for receipt of applications is 5pm GMT on 30 June 2011.  Please note that the Scholarships will be allocated in July and therefore if you are applying both for the Scholarships and the Investment Analysis course close to the 30 June deadline, you should ensure that your course application is complete.
Eligibility: Applicants may be of any nationality and must hold or expect to obtain an offer of a place on the full time MSc in Investment Analysis for entry in September 2011. Applications may be submitted for the Scholarships along with the course application, but only those obtaining a place on the course will be entered into the Scholarship competition
