Doctoral Studentship in Environmental Science, Sweden

This student will be a part of two cooperating research groups. The position is connected to the Atmospheric Aerosol Group, i.e. the activities dealing with airborne particles, in the Division of Nuclear Physics at the Department of Physics. Our research activities on airborne particles deal with effects of atmospheric aerosols in the important environmental issues climate and health. The project will be in close cooperation with the Division of physical geography and ecosystems analysis, which is part of the Department of Earth and Ecosystem Sciences, where biogenic emissions of organic compounds and the analysis of these are studied.

Eligibility/Entry Requirements

Employment as a Doctoral student can only be granted if you have been accepted to the postgraduate student program. Acceptance to the postgraduate student program is based on the estimated ability to perform well in your postgraduate studies. This is also one of the basic criteria for employment. Furthermore you need a valid university degree within a relevant study program. Basic eligibility to education at PhD level requires a university exam at advanced level, with fulfilled course requirements of at least 240 university credits (högskolepoäng), of which at least 60 should be at advanced level. Highest priority is given applicants with a MSc degree in environmental science, physics, meteorology, engineering physics, chemistry, biology, physical geography, or similar.

In the evaluation we will especially look at knowledge and experience in the fields related to the project, the applicant?s ability to work independently, take responsibility and address scientific questions. It is also important that the applicant can communicate well in written and spoken English.

LeRoy Nosbaum Engineering Scholarship Program, USA

Itron, Inc. has established a scholarship program to assist future engineers who plan to continue their education in college and accept a paid internship with the company. Renewable scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at one of a number of selected institutions in the United States. This scholarship program is administered by Scholarship Management Services®, a division of Scholarship America®. Scholarship Management Services is the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship and tuition reimbursement programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability or national origin.

Eligibility
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
– Students must be classified as third or fourth year students for the 2011-2012 academic year.
– Be pursuing a degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or computer software engineering.
-Be enrolled in full-time undergraduate study at one of the following universities for the entire 2011-2012 academic year:

2011-2012 Nigeria Scholarships at Newcastle University, UK: Humanities Arts and Social Sciences (HASS), Science, Agriculture and Engineering (SAgE), and Medical Sciences

The International Office is delighted to announce 2 Newcastle University Nigeria Scholarship (NU Nigeria Scholarship) awards. These are available for high achieving Nigerian students applying for entry onto postgraduate taught degree or research programmes within the Faculties of Humanities Arts and Social Sciences (HASS), Science, Agriculture and Engineering (SAgE), and Medical Sciences (FMS) commencing their studies in September 2011.  Each scholarship will have a value of £3,000, payable towards the first year of tuition fees.
Eligibility: You could be eligible to apply for a NU Nigeria Scholarship if: You have been offered a place on any postgraduate degree programme in the faculties of HASS,  SAgE or FMS.You are a Nigerian national and have been assessed as international/overseas for fees purposes. You have an First Class Bachelors degree from a recognised Nigerian University and satisfy all other requirements.You intend to register to start your studies during the 2011-12 academic yearYou are a self-funded student and not in receipt of other University or external awards
