JRF Positions in the Department of Science and Technology at Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology, India

Applications are sought for three Junior Research Fellows (JRFs) leading to Ph. D. position at DA-IICT and SVNIT, to work on research project sponsored by Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. Project title: Immersive Navigation for walk through application. (Sponsored by DST in the category of India Digital Heritage for the site Hampi-Karnataka). The project has two parts. Part I of the project aims at developing high quality digital immersive viewing system in terms of both the video and audio for the heritage site in Hampi-Karnataka. The second part concentrates on the acoustic analysis/synthesis of musical pillars of the Mahamandapam of Vitthala temple. M.E./M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering or Electronics and Communication Engineering or a related discipline. B.E./B.Tech. Computer Science and Engineering or Electronics and Communication Engineering (or a related discipline) and GATE qualified in related discipline. Background in Image Processing/Computer Vision/ Digital Signal Processing / Speech Communications/ Acoustics and knowledge of MATLAB/C/C++ will be an added advantage.3 years (with an initial appointment for one year and possible renewal for two more). Location: Two JRFs will be working at DA-IICT, Gandhinagar and one will be working at SVNIT, Surat. The candidates recruited for the above position are encouraged to register for the PhD program at DA-IICT within 1 year from the date of joining.

The Kit Faragher Memorial Scholarship for High School Students, USA

The Kit Faragher Memorial Scholarship was established by the Janus Foundation in 2002 to honor the memory of their valued employee, Kathleen “Kit” Faragher who lost her life in the tragic events of September 11, 2001. The Kit Faragher Foundation was created in 2003 to honor her memory and has continued to award this annual scholarship.
This scholarship supports Colorado high school students who have earned a high school GPA of 2.5, are in need of financial assistance for college, university, or technical school, and who capture Kit’s essence by demonstrating a positive attitude, strong commitment, and a drive towards accomplishment. Scholarship money may be used for tuition, books, lab fees, or other costs directly related to the degree program. The scholarship recipient will receive an award of $2,500 for two years, for a total of $5,000. The scholarship payments will be made directly to the school on the student’s behalf at the start of each semester/quarter for the first two years. In order to maintain the scholarship, the recipient must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA throughout the first two years of the educational program.

2011 The EMLF Law Student Scholarships, USA: The Energy & Mineral Law

The Annual Scholarship Program, the Energy & Mineral Law Foundation provides educational assistance to encourage the study of energy, environmental, natural resources, and mineral law. Thirty Thousand ($30,000) dollars in scholarships will be awarded for the 2011-2012 academic year to law students studying energy, environmental, natural resource, and mineral law at schools holding membership in the Energy & Mineral Law Foundation. The Energy & Mineral Law Foundation was established in 1980 to provide a forum for the intellectually honest examination of the legal issues related to the development and use of natural resources. The Energy & Mineral Law Foundation is a non-pro?t 501(c)(3) educational organization, funded primarily through membership dues and revenues from educational programs. Scholarships are funded through membership dues, and earnings from special memorial scholarships The Samuel J. Goldstein, Esquire, Scholarship Fund of The Pittsburgh Foundation was created to benefit students who are planning to attend or already attend law school in Pennsylvania. The following criteria will apply:

1. Be from Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Washington or Westmoreland counties and plan to attend or already attend an accredited law school in Pennsylvania.
2. Demonstrate financial need.
3. Show academic promise.
4. Be of the Jewish faith.
5. Maintain good grades but need not be in the top 10% of their class academically.
6. Submit an essay discussing why you are deserving of this scholarship.
7. Complete a standard admissions application and a financial aid application for the law school the applicant plans to attend or is attending. The students selected to receive this scholarship for the first year at a Pennsylvania law school are eligible to receive this scholarship for a second year if they continue to be enrolled in a Pennsylvania law school and maintain a 2.5 or equivalent grade point average.
If any student selected for this scholarship ceases to attend a Pennsylvania law school or fails to maintain a 2.5 or equivalent grade point average, another scholarship recipient shall be selected for the award. Final selection of the scholarship winners will be decided (subject to the approval of the Board of Directors of The Pittsburgh Foundation) by a Scholarship
