Nigeria Sao Tome and Principe Joint Development Authority; Scholarship Assistance for Post Graduate Students in Nigerian Universities

The Nigeria-Sao Tome and Principe Joint, Development Authority in collaboration with our Joint Development Zone (JDZ) Contractor   Party   Total   E&P   Deepwater  E Limited, is offering scholarship assistance to suitably  qualified   Nigerian  Post  Graduate Students   in   selected   fields   in   Nigerian Universities, under the social responsibility obligation of the Contractor Party in the JDZ.

 

The Eligibility Criteria are as follows:

a.         Candidates must not be more than 40 years old

b.         Candidates must be qualified in any of the following disciplines

i)          Engineering

ii)         Environmental  Sciences

iii)        Geo-Sciences

iv)        Accounting/Business Management/Economics

v)         Law

vi)        Medical Sciences

 

c.         Candidates must have graduated with a minimum of Second Class Honours.

 

Candidates Should Submit:

(a)       An Application Letter

(b)       A Curriculum Vitae clearly Stating State of Origin and current contact details including phone number(s) and email address(es)

(c)        Evidence of change of name if applicable Copy of Statement of Result or Certificate of First Degree.

(d)       Copy of statement of Result or Certificate of First Degree.

(e)       Copy of a valid post graduate admission letter from a Nigerian University

(f)        Copy of Student Identification Card clearly stating matriculation number

(g)       Copy of NYSC Discharge Certificate or Exemption Letter

(h)       Copy of ID (International Passport, Drivers Licence or National ID)

(i)         Copy   of   Birth   Certificate   or  Age Declaration Affidavit

2011-2012 White Rose Research Studentship at University of Leeds, UK

The Economic & Social Research Council is the main provider of postgraduate awards in the areas of economic and social sciences. The University of Leeds has been allocated a number of studentships as part of the White Rose Doctoral Training Centre (WR DTC), a major new collaboration between the Universities of Leeds, Sheffield and York with a total of 48 ESRC studentships per year over 5 years.  The WR DTC is one of the largest consortia in the country and offers a wealth of supervisory expertise across the social sciences as well as numerous training opportunities, particularly focused upon maximising the social and economic benefits of research.  These studentships are held in certain clusters/pathways and may be available on either a 1+3 or +3 basis (or a 2+2 or 2+5 basis in a more limited number of cases), depending on the chosen pathway.
Eligibility: Applicants MUST first submit a research degree study application form and be in receipt of a University BANNER ID Number to be eligible for a White Rose Research Studentship.  Applications without a valid University ID Number will be rejected.  To apply for a place on a research degree programme,  Applicants must hold a First Degree at undergraduate level equivalent to at least a UK Upper Second Class Honours degree.  Applicants should either have graduated with the appropriate First Degree or be in their final year of study; Applicants whose first language is not English must meet the University’s English Language requirements.  Some Schools require a standard of English higher than the University minimum;

All those applying using the scholarship application form will be notified of the outcome of their application by email by the end June at the latest. Any award made to an applicant holding a conditional offer will be subject to those conditions being met in full. Additional conditions attached to the Scholarship over and above the conditions in the offer may be also be specified.

Different Departments will have varying criteria for awarding Scholarships, however, in general we will be looking for students who have the equivalent of a UK First Class honours degree, or a very high 2:1 OR who have sufficient grades to demonstrate the potential to achieve this level. The precise grades vary from country to country, but the following is intended for general guidance:
The initial short-listing will be done by a team of staff in the International Office who have extensive knowledge and experience of a wide range of world-wide qualifications. Shortlisted applications will then be passed to the relevant Department who have the final say on the award of the scholarship. They will take into consideration the overall quality of applications to their department and will set their own limits on numbers of scholarships to be awarded.
