The rare Charitable Research Reserve is a 913-acre property in Cambridge and North Dumfries, Ontario at the confluence of the Grand and the Speed Rivers. The goal of rare is to protect this environmentally sensitive landscape intact, in perpetuity, and to promote the use of the property for education and research. The property includes a broad range of habitats including riparian zones, upland and lowland deciduous forest (old-growth and second-growth), savanna, cliffs, coldwater streams, deciduous swamps, marshes, hedgerows, agricultural fields and old fields.

.The field of study is open and could include, but is not limited to, research in ecology, zoology, geology, restoration ecology, hydrology, botany, soil science, archaeology, agriculture and education. The Scholarship will allow students to study in a relatively undisturbed, yet highly accessible site. The monetary award will help ensure successful candidates have the necessary resources to conduct and report on their research at rare. It will also allow the student to give an oral presentation at a conference in their discipline.

Masters Scholarships offer a tuition fee waiver (at the home/EU rate). The scholarship covers one year of full time registration. Scholarship applications may be submitted either by post or online. We are only able to accept scholarship applications from individuals who already hold an offer of a place on the relevant programme.The deadline for applications is 4pm on 30 April each year (unless stated otherwise), before entry the following October. To ensure fairness and transparency we do not accept applications after the deadline.
We begin accepting scholarship applications from November, from this date applicants will be able to download an application form.
Your application will be logged and you will receive a confirmation email. If you do not receive a confirmation email within 2 weeks of submitting your application.
Eligibility: In order to be eligible you must: 1.Have applied for and been offered a place on the relevant full time Masters programme 2. Have or expect to obtain a first or upper second class honours degree or equivalent prior to commencing the Masters degree

Marie Curie Fellowships of the Gerda Henkel Foundation, Germany: History, Prehistory and Early History, Archaeology, Art History, Historic Islamic Studies, Legal History, Historical studies, religious, cultural and political sciences under the special programme Islam, the modern nation state and transnational movements.

Starting in 2011, the Gerda Henkel Foundation is offering Marie Curie Fellowships in the M4HUMAN (Mobility for experienced researchers in historical humanities including Islamic studies) programme aimed at supporting outstanding scholars. This funding initiative is co-financed by the European Commission under the EU’s Seventh Framework Programme for Research. One objective of this fixed-term programme is to increase networking between researchers in the historical humanities at the international level, including researchers in religious, cultural and political sciences under the special programme “Islam, the modern nation state and transnational movements”.

Other goals include the promotion of trans-national academic exchange, increasing transnational mobility, facilitating further education and the positive and long-term influencing of the research environment in both origin and destination countries. Research scholarships can be requested for a larger-scale research work or in connection with a research project.
The programme provides 24-month research grants for two categories of researchers:
– Experienced researchers (PhD or 4 to 10 years of comparable research experience)
– Senior researchers (post-doctoral qualifications or more than 10 years of comparable and proven research experience.
