Rieger Foundation Fellowship Programme in Environmental Studies, USA

The Rieger Foundation-Jewish National Fund Program for Environmental Studies, published its annual announcement on graduate fellowships for 2011 to support (USD 3,000-5,000 /per year) graduate students towards advanced (mostly PhD) degrees in an Israeli institution of higher education, who have a Research Advisor (Professor or equivalent), and are devoted to environmental related studies/research.

Research Subject, Scientific and Practical Goals of the Research, and Technical Means and Approach of the Research, plus its Motivations both Scientific and Environmental, plus names and email addresses of your Research Advisor(s).
Your Submittal will be reviewed by people with scientific and engineering training so that sufficient detail is necessary, but the length is left to your discretion. Most past submittals have been 3-12 pages in length, often with figures, photographs, formulae, references, etc.If this is a Renewal Application, then only an Up-grading of previously submitted information is required, but the Foundation is anxious to see clear evidence of your Research Progress.

Lindhard Scholarships in Physics and Astronomy, Denmark

The aim of this honours scholarship programme is to increase international recruitment of top-level students in Physics and Astronomy. The successful applicants are expected to follow courses taught in English and engage in research activities that may lead to formulation of a PhD project.

The Scholarship covers travelling expenses and local expenses including housing with 8.000 DKK (roughly equivalent to 1075 Euro) for each month of stay in Aarhus. This amount is sufficient for accommodation and living expenses for one person. Adequate accommodation will be available for the successful applicants.

The Department has a large range of internationally competitive activities, so the PhD-education takes place in a scientifically inspiring environment.

The Dag Hammarskjöld Scholarship Fund for Journalists from Developing Countries, USA

The Dag Hammarskjöld Scholarship Fund accepts applications from journalists of the developing nations of Africa, Asia, South America and the Caribbean to cover the United Nations General Assembly beginning in September each year. The fellowships offer a unique opportunity for promising young journalists from developing countries to see the United Nations at work and to report on its proceedings for news media in their home countries.

Eligibility

Applicants must demonstrate an interest in and commitment to international affairs and to conveying a better understanding of the United Nations to their readers and audiences.

The Dag Hammarskjöld Journalism Fellowship is open to individuals who:
* Are native of one of the developing countries of Africa, Asia, South America or the Caribbean. For 2011 only, the Fund will not accept applications from the countries of the 2010 Fellows — Nepal, Peru, South Africa and Togo — in an effort to rotate recipient countries.
* Currently live in and write for a publication in a developing country.
* Are between the ages of 25 and 35. Have a good to excellent command of the English language since United Nations press conferences and many documents are in English only. Are currently employed full-time as professional journalists for bona fide print, television, radio or internet media organizations.
* Have approval from their media organizations to spend up to three months in New York reporting from the United Nations.
* Receive a commitment from their media organizations that the reports they file during the term of the Fellowship will be used.
* Are prepared technically to file their news stories over WIFI, whether broadcast or print.
